So uh...

+1. When I ask about a product on a forum, I'm always happy to hear of better alternatives or downsides, that's... kinda the whole point of asking on a forum. It's ridiculous to say "tell me this is a great product or get out of my thread," other forumites will do whatever they want. Let me put it this way: if you were just getting into the hobby and thought that Smith and Wesson knives from Big 5 were the best thing out there, wouldn't you want to be advised better?

That is a good point....only that doesn't apply to this thread at all.

So uhh... I don't think the aluminum would justify $100 extra for me. That being said, it's really a personal choice. I know some people spend $100 plus dollars getting custom scales done for knives, so if it is worth it to you then yes.

I have the large alu espada, I like it but the alu get a lot of scratchs with light use.

I'll buy the XL (I'm a kind of CS adict !) with the G10 handle, just because it is lighter and thiner for such a TOO big knife !

In fact, I like both G10 and alu, what I hate, it's the ugly bead blasting on the blade !!!

I say go for the G-10. Cold Steel's G-10 is great, and for a knife of that size, I think the big shiny bolsters take away from the look. Plus, saving the money never hurts either :D

I had the aluminum XL. Looked really cool, but aluminum scratches easily, so you can't play with it much and keep it pretty.

I'd get the G10 version and then pay Andrew Demko to make me a custom high hollow ground bowie something like the Jeff Imada style.
way ahead of you ;)

For the kind of stuff the guy in the video is doing - I would rather get a hatchet.

So it's important to potential buyers that a person that has no interest in a knife, hasn't owned it and doesn't plan on owning it to just be negative about said company who makes the knife?
Yes, if a company makes a bad name for itself, it deserves the negative feedback, and potential buyers have a right to question the integrity of the company's product based on negativity from other buyers. Even if it has nothing to do with the knife in question.

I have one and dont bother, its awkward to carry [ and I carry the Rajah I & II ] and its not appearing as sturdy to me.

Negative feedback is fine as long as it doesn't come from the bandwagon. If you don't have FIRSTHAND experience with the KNIVES then what you have is a parroted OPINION. I like the g10 model even more after I saw a member here put a polish on the g10, looked very nice, good luck.

I'm a CS fan. I own them, carry them and use them. I'm no hater.

But seriously - what does one do with this knife other than play with it while watching ESPN?

I'd be happy if someone gave me this knife. It looks like it would be fun to own and fun to play with. But to me its a novelty, like a pair of clown shoes or a cowboy hat with a 6 foot brim.

Imagine a guy in clown shoes, wearing a gigantic novelty cowboy hat. He pulls out this knife and cuts you in half. Its like Nightmare on Elm Street, part 16.

Collectability and the fun factor are plenty good reasons to own a knife. But I would not pay more than $65 for this one.

I have first hand experience with CS knives. I've tried out brands from nearly every major company. They are solid knives. I have no complaints about the construction or materials they use. It's on par with what i consider high quality for production knives.

I also have first hand experience with observing some of the decisions and propaganda that CS has put out over the years, and it turned me off to them. I would preferre to spend my knife money elsewhere, at this point. I ride no bandwagons, here at BF.
