I have one spanish dirk from the late 1800s that was Gaucho with Reposed silver handle and sheath with a 5 inch blade and my 17th century Kard is 9 inch blade with wootz blade and silver gilded handle but I have also seen dirks up to 11 inch blades as well as the short 5 inchers. There is only very slight difference between the two styles that I have.
