So we need more groups.

Okay you guys, I know we have all seen the prestigious Order of KAI, Beckerheads, Buck knife club, and the new Spyderco knife fan group.

I have recently been trying to get enough points to be able to become a member of the Order of KAI, but alas, the bank will not allow the amount of money it would require to get the necessary 12 points.

So I pose a question: What about us normal knife guys? The guys who love, live, and breath knives and spend all of their spare cash on knives, but cannot join one of these groups?

I propose we start our own group. A group of normal knife guys. Nothing crazy required, you don't have to own every variant of a particular knife. You just have to have some sort of paid membership. Something that allows for a signature is one requirement, of course love of knives is another. Over 60 total posts, and just be a chill guy.

Anybody with me?
This is just an idea, so please feel free to give feedback.

Also, we need to think up a name. Something catchy

So who's with me?

I'm in
I help ya set it up. Me fcm and bladechick started the spyderco group in a week.
It's sounds like a good idea to me

I will never understand these groups, what's the appeal? I think owning a companies knives are enough proof of your support, by liking knives we all are pretty much part of a fairly exclusive group. I don't mean to come across as offensive, but I realize my opinion is probably contrary to the norm.

Thanks man. I'll PM you about it.

Also I was thinking of playing off the term "Jack of all trades" and calling this group "A knife of all blades" to show that there is no allegiance to one brand over another as a whole.

You can join the Order of KAI, read the rules again, all you need to do is post a lot in the kershaw forum. I'll recommend you for one point.
Misanthropia wheres you passion man?

I love knives, don't get me wrong. Just never got into the whole group thing, but different strokes for different folks I suppose. Don't mean to rain on your parade guys

You should call the group "the other guys". Since it's a general thing and we're not being "brand specific"

I agree with being a part of a group in "Bladeforums". I have very seldom seen a knife that I didn't like so I have never really had any brand loyalty. I am probably the most loyal to "Case" and "Spyderco" but I have many brands besides those 2. I also like handmades and customs and spend time in most of the forums.

For me, it's just something to do since I'm here a lot anyways. It's inherent in humans to be part of a group, and some like myself extend that trait into forums and such. Of course being a maverick like yourself :barf: has its appeal also :p It ain't that serious though just a sig identifying myself as a Spyderco enthusiast to the rest of BF. Spyderco isn't the only brand I like though, by any means.

One of the challenges we had when starting SpyderaNation was to figure out what was the point and reasoning for starting a brand specific enthusiast club. We addressed that on the group's introduction page. When I wrote Sal about starting the group, I even shared my own reservations that in some ways it is a little silly haha. The challenge I think you will face is defining exactly what this group is gonna be since everyone on Bladeforums is inherently a knife enthusiast anyway.

I don't get the group thing either, but I think it may be because I'm an older fart:p

I was in our local knife club during the 80's, and 90's(it's now closed). It was before I joined an online knife forum, and we met once a month. Got alot of great deals on knives, we had club knives every year, and it was alot of fun.

I guess all of these knife groups are a newer way of doing what we did, so I can kinda see why many of the younger folks would enjoy it.

Talking with my friends about knives, and BF is enough for me these days, but I wish you all the best of luck with these groups.
Good luck:thumbup:
