So what did you guys get for Christmas?

Several blacksmithing/metalworking books, standard sweater and p-jammas,
way to much calorie intake. Now today is my 25th wedding anniversary:) , so if I can survive today, I'll have it made. Honestly I couldn't have asked for a better mate. She's been right by my side during all of my recent medical problems during the last 4 years. I usually drill the doctors pretty good in order to understand what they're talking about, but not near as much or as hard as she does. On the other hand, I always wanted to retire after 25 years of this type of work, however she has decided for me that I should continue with it another 25 years, ya gotta love u-mm!

My wife is so thoughtful and has a great memory. She remembered me telling her about the one tool that I could use to ramp up my knife making time. We were standing in Menards a month ago and I was telling her about the JET metal cutting band saw and how much I thought about the quality of JET tools. It was under the tree, so to speak, yesterday morning and I was absolutely shocked and overjoyed. I have already put it together and cut out a blade. It works great in the vertical position and I was pleasantly surprised with the blade that came with it. God bless us...EVERYONE!

I just bought myself a nice little 10" drill press. It will be a big addition to my current "shop" which consists of a couple good Nicholsen files, a coping saw, a small vise, a granite tile, and sandpaper :) Gotta love apartment living, can't wait to buy a house one day and have a shop.

Judy got me a gift certificate from Woodcraft,to use for a new drill press for the shop. She had heard me state that the old one was worn out (and how I hate changing the belt from pulley to pulley).I can't get it until it comes in at Woodcraft (they had to order it in). The monster weighs almost 300 pounds.Time to clean up the 3" of sawdust and wood chips on the floor of the woodshop and get it ready for this new inhabitant.

Got a bench grinder, a couple of knife blanks from North Coast Knives (bear claw and shark tooth), cocobolo, lacewood, and maple burl scales for those knives, subscription to Knives Illustrated and Blade Magazine. All in all it was a very good, and knife filled christmas.

Happy New Year to all,

Charles Shepherd

I got a small wheel attachment for my KMG with three contact wheel sizes, a space heater for my shop, a nice set of allan/torx drivers, a palm sander, knives 2007, a blacksmithing book, and a peddinghaus 1000g hammer.

Well my Christmas is not quite over yet, but so far I got a Dem Bart checkering handle and 16 LPI cutters, a VZ-24 Mauser action, a Cabelas AG S30V Buck 110 (non stag, have that one already), case of Fed Mag Match primers, a Mathews Switchback XT, and whatever else my folks have for me. I asked them for a bunch of stabilized wood blanks and S30V billets, so hopefully that works out for me. I was hoping for a KMG, but at the time when I asked for it for Christmas, my wife did not think I would be able to finish my first knife:jerkit:  . That's okay.

I got all my christmas knives completely done and sharpened today. I have to post pics of the 154CM fillet knife. I was gonna take the plunge and start checkering the handles on the hunters, but I did not know if I could finish it before I have to send em off. Just gonna have to wait till I get the camp knife done.

So what did Santa bring for you guys? Gifts are nice, but as long as we have family and our health toys can wait sometimes.

Tim

Sounds like Tim takes pretty good care of Tim. I find that no one can quite fill my stocking like I do and my kids seem to like me doing their christmas shopping for them.Heck , they don't even mind that I'm paying for it. Oh and by the way, there was a nice shiny new "frequency drive" and 2 h.p. motor for my grinder in my stocking and 1/2 a dozen new leather stamps as well. Merry Christmas all.

I also got an airsoft pistol. After years shooting on the junior olympic team, its accuracy is actually pretty surprising considering its a toy with a smooth barrel and is spring powered. No worries about killing anything and I can even shoot my friends with it. Fun stuff. makes me wonder how well i'd do as an airsoft sniper with all the comp. shooting I used to do....hmmm...wonder who will trade a high end airsoft gun for a custom knife.....

i got a katana !!! :D halo ghost of onyx (halo freak right here!!)
a buck modle 112 a very nice blade i might add :D

Want to hear something sad ?

I got socks.

Want to hear something even more sad ?

Socks was what I wanted ! :D :D :D

Hi guys

I got a gift certificate to a place around here called princess auto, it's kinda the Canadain version of Harbour Freight. I used it to pick up a new leather apron bunch of band saw blades and a couple sets of clamps. The wife and I told the family not to get us much and give it to the kids instead. Honestly I don't realy need anymore of the standard Christmas crap that you usally get.

My boys on the other hand made out like bandits, I enloy seeing them open gift after gift better anyway.
