So what do I do?

I try to keep my production purchases to a minimum so that I can keep my maker friends as busy as possible.

It is, however, time for a new carry knife. I have been waiting for the Lum. You all know the deal.

I find the Starmate very appealing in the meantime.

Whichever I buy, I won't buy another for some time, like 6-8 months or so. If I buy the Starmate, and the Lum appears soon, I'm going to be forced to plunge the Starmate into my forehead repeatedly out of frustration.

So - do we think that the Lum will be available this summer, or can I purchase the Starmate without injury and have a Lum for Christmas?

BTW - Some of Bob Lum's "better" customers have recently received their C46s direct from Bob (who got a small shipment), so apparently, they are out there somewhere...

Brian - Lum's have been shipping regularly for some time now. Demand is greater than supply. Apologies. Perhaps you might have more success ordering one from a Spyderco dealer (or Bob Lum?, you have any Bob?)(Bob is a BF "lurker"). I don't think anyone is going to end up "sitting on one" for very long.

Thanks for the response, Sal!

Any chance you could let me know who the dealers are that are receiving these knives? None of the dealers I've talked to have ever received so much as one. As soon as I find one, they won't have to sit on it any longer.

Thanks again!

I'm talking about the *allegedly* in production C46 Tanto. I still have yet to find anyone other than Bob Lum who will own up to having received or sold one of these knives.

BTW - As if it needs saying, Bob has no more. However we did get started on a sweet double edged dagger design...I love this game!

Bob Lum is truly a gentleman. I now appreciate the fact that the C46 is a "Bob Lum", in a personal sense, as much as I appreciate it's beauty.
