So what do you all think of the new Cold Steel SRK in VG-1?

I was just made aware of the new SRK in VG-1. I have wanted and SRK for a while now, and this seems better than the AUS-8 version. How does VG-1 stack up to san mai or AUS-8? Any experience from you guys?

Would have been even better in 3V. VG1 and AUS8 are very similar, VG1has a little more carbon, but I don't think anyone would say "wow, that is a huge difference in performance".

Yeah, I would have loved for them to make on in 3V like they did the Master Hunter. Thanks for the info

Speaking of the Master Hunter, I just got my hands on one. This is my first CS ever and I have to admit that I am very impressed with every aspect of the knife!

Good to hear! I like the look of it but to me it's just in the awkward size of too big for small stuff and too small for big work. To each their own though.

Yes, it seems that AUS8 or VG1 are steps backward for a knife like this. OTOH this is a pretty thick blade so maybe it is still plenty tough in a less tough steel.
