...want to discuss? With so many of the regulars being at Blade, it's going to be rather quiet around this forum for the next few days.

Well, I'm claustrophobic, so I'm glad I'm not stuck in that galleria of knifedom with all those people:D We could talk about how lucky we are to not be there!

J/K-I'd love to be able to see it. Alas, not this year. So, the topic of discussion could be: How we gonna get to Blade next year:foot:

I'm going to work on my budgeting skill:p:thumbup: How 'bout you all?

I'm not going either Kieth :(
At least I'll be going to Jim Siska's house to pick up a sub hilt to cheer me up :D
Me and my son are also going to grind the blades we forged at Indian George's HI:thumbup:

Getting a new knife is good- and grinding blades is always fun:thumbup:

I was thinking the same thing. I thought it was already dieing down a bit do to the smaller amounts of new posts I see every time I hit that button. But, I wasn't sure if it was just because I'm on so much now, getting addicted. :D

Since this is the custom knives section, how but you guys showing pics of your favorite customs?

I was wondering how quiet it was going to be here.
I wish I was there!

I have 2 Yun EQ-2's that will be arriving in the next couple of weeks.

We could certainly discuss the knives we have coming. I have a big Loveless style fighter coming from Charles Vestal in a little over a month. It may be going to Coop for photos and will most certainly be going to Paul Long for a sheath.

We could get into how lucky we are not being at Blade. At least there's no chance I'll die in a plane crash this weekend, unless a plain crashes into wherever I happen to be.

Many of what could be my favorite customs are probably at Blade this weekend. Hopefully some nice people are taking photos and will be posting them here from their laptops that they have with them. We can always hope.

I love knife shows:thumbup: There's nothing like attending one, IMO. I went to my first show about 10 years ago and still get excited about the ones I attend regularly. That said, I doubt I'll ever go to Blade, unless I go with Ray Cover one of these years--we've talked about it, but it just hasn't worked out for either of us the past couple of years.

I am home at Blade time again this year. I have been there 3 times and it could get to be a wonderful annual thing to do. I had a table and did fine but it costs a bundle to go and the neccesity to sell to make expenses let alone make expenses and pay monthly bills takes some of the fun right off the top. Next time I go I just wish to be unattached and have some fun. Maybe stay a day or two longer and see some sights. We rented a car last time and drove until the tank was empty. Atlanta is a wonderful place to see. Yep we are going back again sometime.

It MAY be quiet for a bit Keith.

Blade is the grandaddy of all shows. Right now, there is action in the Pit, our brothers in steel are drinking(smokers have been banished to outside, so the population is effectively halved) and cavorting and deepening the community as we speak, deals are being made, pacts sealed and curses thrown....nothing else like it for Knife People on the planet, folks traveling from near and far, far away.

The anticipation is thick like a cloudy night. I have been to three Blade shows, and make the majority of my annual expenditures there, when I attend, which is normally every other year. This year, made the decision, as you have, to attend Josh's show, for a multitude of reasons...and simply cannot do both.

Tomorrow there will be a feeding frenzy come show opening unlike anything else during the year.

Do I miss it? Hells yeah!

Will I miss Josh's Show more this year, had I gone to Blade? NO!

As far as what to talk about, just got another pic from Buddy Thomason of my Russ Andrews fighter today, wanna see it?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

awesome post, Keith! You have a great sense of humour.

Hey Stabber- I would love to take a trip to IG's forge and hang out with him for a bit. What went on if you don't mind my asking? Pictures?

As for knives in the pipe, I have something very interesting coming from the United States, actually two things. One I just can't bring myself to talk about yet, and the other is something choppy by Mr. Leavitt.

At this point, I've done the preliminary layout for a dagger I'm hoping to be able to make, using some beautiful wood graciously donated by a supportive knifemaker(s). I'm finding that half or more of the work happens in my head, before I actually start hogging away at the metal. My other two blades should be arriving back from their holiday in the heat soon, and I'm excited about finally finishing them.

But, the bicycle season is upon me, and time spent in here is limited anyway due to that. But it's probably good to have a break, even though I enjoy the banter in and content of this place.

ps. can someone please tell Steve to post pictures of his new knife? He may not see this post.

Well, I am at Blade right now.. But you guys are cool so I don't wanna remain quiet. There wasn't as much action in the pit tonight (thursday) as I expected. Maybe tomorrow there will be more people. When you look down from the elevators there was a lack of knives on the tables being flipped open. Weird..

I got to play with some knives already which is cool and got my new folder. I also drank more then I normally do, being that I never really drink.

I need to add that Kyle Royers mosaic damascus subhilt is incredible and stands up well against any of the great makers knives. I am truly impressed.

Lorien, I put a gang of pics on Indian Georges hammer in thread. There was about 40 people there that day. It sure was a great experience. He's got about 4 forges hooked up that he builds himself. He just had a mini HI last saterday.
Being I'm a PUTZ and did renew my membership yet, I can't search for IG's HI thread.

I'll get plenty of pics of Me and Jr grinding at Jim Siska's tomorrow for sure.

I can honestly say I'm not at Blade and could care less. I'm just not into large shows and crowds. Give me the smaller shows like Solvang, Plaza and even Santa Barbara. In fact, I looked into going up to Josh's show but the airline tickets are stupid expensive.

I hope everyone there has a great time and gets the blade they've been wishing for.

I have always liked the smaller venues as well, but I want to take in blade once in my lifetime. I'm driving to Josh's. It takes about 11 hours, but only costs about a hundred bucks in gas each way.

Thank you for for the Blade post. if you can, please keep us updates.

I have only been once to Blade, and it was an amazing experience! I hoped to be able to go every year since I went in 06 to be able TO go again.

I really don't like big crowds either, but I REALLY enjoyed Blade.
