so what is wrong with those Frost Cutlery '100 for $150' knives?

OK, I know about Caveat Emptor and all that but it you wouldn't own one yourself and especially if they are so poorly made they are dangerous, how could you justify selling them to others?
- Billman, dig a hole in the back yard and bury the whole lot.

Should make great stocking-stuffers for years to come.

"I just loved the ones you gave me so much, I knew you'd be thrilled to get (another) one yourself!"

If they have been recently purchased, tell the person who bought them to return them pronto. If they haven't been purchased yet, tell them not to buy them. I watch those dingdongs purely for entertainment value only. I would never consider ordering any of their products unless I had a sincere desire to go out in the street and throw the contents of my wallet down the sewer. You might be able to recoup some of the money if you can find enough ignorant people to buy them, I sure wouldn't give any to friends if you wish them to remain friends. The fact that Frost cutlery is still in business and that the dingdongs are still on tv hawking that junk is testament to the truism that some people will buy anything. :barf:

Whoever is buying that junk for you for Christmas needs a slap in the face...Either that, or show them this thread, and maybe they'll change their mind and buy you something that's worth owning.:).

maybe I'll just display them next to the 18" folder inlayed with the Confederate flag that I got for my birthday

I just found out that I'm getting a set of ~40 Frost Cutlery knives for Christmas. What do I have to look forward to?

Quite frankly......most anything! Even a kick in the gonads would be preferable......

Somebody send him the sword video.....maybe that'll convince him.....

You all remember the sword that jerk was demonstrating and it snapped off and impaled him?

I got one of those for a present.

We bought a large set of Frost Cutlery knives to sell on Ebay, but they were so cheap & poor quality that we just sold them during our Garage Sale. At least we got our money back selling them 2 for $5! Will never buy them again.

So, "100 knives for $150" makes 50 pairs for $5 = $250
Net profit: $100

I am not aware of ANY production knife you can immediately buy from anywhere for $150 and yet you can resell for $250

:D :D

(btw if they can return it, for $155 they can get you this:

I gotta see this sword video. Can someone post the URL to it?

To reinforce what I said about the knives last night, I did order some to give them a look. I didn't actually try to use them. They are bad enough when you see them up close. The knives I ordered were all single blade folders that I thought were all locking knives. I found when they arrived half were not locking blade knives and none were the size that they seemed to be on TV.

I sent them back ASAP and Frost honored their guaranty and returned my money. The problem is if someone else ordered them your only choice may be to unload them on the general public. If you are truthful about the knives in your eBay adds (not going out of your way to hang yourself) the knives should sell for enough to actually realize a better return than was paid for the knives.

I'm not encouraging you to violate your values, but you shouldn't have to be stuck with these knife like objects. (as someone else already said) I also said that some people consider the Steel Warrior pocket knives to be a usable product. (I'll let you know about this when I have one to evaluate) The Hen and Rooster knives are actually quite nice according to some pocket knife collectors.

The pocket knives are much higher priced knives and I think there are a couple of large collections of those knives, so you may actually be getting something useful. If that is the case your friend or loved one is a little more astute then we have been giving them credit for being. You may actually need to thank them.

Whatever happens do what you need to do to be appropriately appreciative for the gesture this person is making, and don't feel obligated to keep anything you don't want.

Hang onto them! With the current anti-knife trend it is only a matter of time until some municipality offers a knife "amnesty" where you can turn them in in return for 5 bucks each or a certificate for a free Whopper at Burger King or some such thing that may not be as worthless as the knives. Trade up! When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

I agree that the knives themselves are quite sub-par, but making derogatory comments about the person who is gifting them isn't really appropriate, in my opinion. Most people are not terribly knowledgeable about knives, and this person could be sincerely giving them to the original poster because they know he likes knives, which I think actually makes them a rather thoughtful gift. I know that if someone close to me got me a similar set, I might use them lightly, but I'd certainly keep them and definitely wouldn't make that person feel badly about the gift they chose.

I would say to try to stop the purchase if the person wouldn't be offended and if the knives aren’t already purchased. If you are sure you are going to get them then I would suggest writing a review of a few of them for us or tinkering with them or both.

not a bad idea actually, except you are out money until you can turn in those dangerous weapons to the proper authorities. Foist them off on ignorant liberal public servants who will then think they are saving lives and making us all safer! :D
