So what is your favorite handle design for long term use???????

KFU, I like the look of that knife. I will be looking back to hear the report on the feel during use. I would want a little jimping on the spine and the scales tapered down toward the blade just a bit instead of squared off but I think it looks really nice.

4" blade, 4 3/4" handle. Blade is 1 1/8" at plunge

What are the dimensions of the handle height at the palm swell, and the handle thickness? Looks super comfy, the contours remind me of the spyderco bushcrafter.

Thanks guys. Its 1 1/8 at tbe swell and a little iver 1 thick

Sweet knife KFU, there is nothing that I don't like about that  That fatty handle looks especially comfy

Thanks Tknife.
6shooter-I don't have a name for it yet, you have a good one?

I like it a lot! And I'm continually impressed with your blades. I hope to pick up one some time.

Since it does look so comfy AND its a dedicated carving knife (if I understood the op) how bout you call it the 'bush cush', you know, as in cushion?

A "sculpted" handle along the lines of the ones pioneered by guys like Bob Loveless, Bill Moran and Bo Randall (the Border Patrol handle for the 14,15 and 16) What I have found as a maker is that when you are shaping them, you can grab the handle and IMMEDIATELY know by feel if even a tiny spot is uneven and needs to be sanded down some more.

Well I ground out two last night and finished one of them up. One was similar to a Woodlore and this one is weird! I just grabbed some steel, marked the blade length and handle length I wanted and start grinding. This one probably would not make a good knife to add to my designs since I made it for my hands. Let me know what you think. It is super comfy in hand and I will report back after I put it to use.
Aldos 1095 1/8"

My third convex Saber Grind, my second was done today as well!
Stabilized Spalted Elm with orange pinstripes and jade liners. They look red but in the light they look clear. I tried showing it in the last pic.

That handle would melt right into my hand. Nice job! That handle and a woodlore shaped blade is a winner! Hope you put this in your lineup.

Ive used it for a couple of days and really like it. I prefer thick handles and this one is a good size for me. I decided to do a passaround over on our forum so I could get some thoughts on changes needed for the public.

Barrel handle for me too. After all is the one that gives the greatest possibility of handling. I had used a Mora n°2 and a 10 cm carver by Svante Djärv but I ended up with something different.

I'd go with this too; Birch bark especially.

I measured the handles at the swell and it was .975 thick, at the front its .830
I like Fattycrafter as well!

I agree. Sculpted handles are all well and good, but by design they favor a specific grip over others. When you aren't using that grip, they can handle awkwardly and are usually uncomfortable to boot.

For pure utility I prefer an oval handled knife like BA. The handle on this knife is the best I've experienced yet.

I think "broom handles" are perfect. The most comfortable knife I have held is a standard KABAR with a leather handle.
