with a Spyderco Paramilitary ..I keep hearing how great it is.So i wanna know is there a Kershaw that compares or just ZT models..Opinions please

s30v or 154cm Blur would be my input. My blur is rock solid but I've read many reports of Paramilitaries having a bit of play in the lock, no thanks.

Differences in lock mechanisms and assisted openers aside, there really isn't any, but closest I think would be a JYD or Knockout. I have several Paramilitary 2's, and none of them have play in the lock, and certainly not bladeplay. The pivot bushing takes care of that.

The closest I can think of would be an S30V blur. Different locks and handle material, and the Blur is an assisted-opener - but in terms of size and use I'd say they're fairly comparable. I prefer the PM2, myself, but the Blur is a good knife.

For some reason I always consider my PM2 and my zt0350 to be similar even though they are completely different.

I would agree that the Blur might be the most similar size, width wise.

I was thinking more on the lines of use i suppose. Some tend to think the PM2 is the best thing since sliced bread like its the greatest EDC ever.So I was wondering peoples opinion on Kershaws greatest EDC I suppose.. I like my Blur and just got the Ram and damn that's a sweet Kershaw right there.

Never had a Para 1 or 2, but the way people always talk about how functional, solid, and practical it is always reminds me of my ZT 350. I want to get a PM2 just to compare the two. The ZT 350 is my favorite EDC of all time right now, my Benchmade Griptilian is a close second.. but soon that will probably change, the 350s big brother is about to join my EDC line up. I may have to pick up a PM2 after the holidays, just to try it out. I also have a Manix 2 in Translucent Blue on the way, so if that doesnt work out Ill probably replace it with a PM2.

I really dont see the PM2 replacing my ZTs though, especially not the ZT 350, its thin and light enough to be amazingly comfortable but thick and strong enough to feel like a tank and handle whatever job you need it to do. But with that said, I like to carry two knives at all times (except maybe at work, two knives is kind of overkill when youre in formal wear) a nice slim, light, slicer like the Griptilian 550HG or Manix 2 and a heavier, more solid, much tougher monster like the ZT 350 or ZT 303. I had been doing this at work using both my ZT 350SW and a BM Mini Bone Collector (Recently Traded) but I only ever used my ZT, but outside of work I ALWAYS have two knives. So if I do get a PM2 it wont replace any of my ZTs, it will just ride with one of them.

The first issue with your question is price. If we are only using the Kershaw brand, there are not a lot of options right around $100 street. Most of them stop about $20 to $30 short of that cost (around $70 to $80). If you upgrade to a ZT, then you have a knife that is completely overbuilt (I mean that in a good way) that is not meant to compare with the Para 2.

Around $60 to $80 I feel that Spyderco offers a lot less Knife for my dollar than Kershaw. At $100, I would go with a Spyderco. Only because there is not really a competing knife at that price point. Which is ok. Your question to me is an issue of price, not the knife. Depending on how you may feel about 14C28N compared to S30V, I would offer up the RAM or Knockout. But once again, that's not apples to apples. Nor is the Blur. All great knives. Buy them all :-)

I see your point with cost...They are totally different companies that regard..Spyderco uses alot more steel types..I got the green Blur with CPM154 that's the only non 8cr13mov or Sandvik steel i really know of from Kershaw..But there is a reason I own 23 Kershaws and only 3 Spydercos..I just fell in love with Kershaw Knives because of price and quality . The value line is what got me hooked it was a great way for me to build a collection i can use and help me learn about knives and how to sharpen things like that

Closest I can think of is the Kershaw RAM. The forward choil placement is what made it come to mind.
