So whats new in choppers?

Yes the parangatang looks very useful. A bit much for most of what I do but I would like to have one.

Well, there are those new things called "Hatchets" and "Axes" ... they are good at chopping ... most knives: not so much...

Most choppers of the same size vastly outchop hatchets and axes are unweildy in heavy brush. A good chopper is multipurpose and way handier

And clearing brush and vegetation with an axe is an exercise in futility. :D

That too. Im actually amazed people constantly recommend hatchets over choppers, i probably use choppers to do more than most people on here and i can tell you this: hatchets suck for anything other than making kindling at a camp fire. Axes do work well when you have a clear path but i rarely, if ever, have enough clearence for a 4 ft axe swing.

Plus like you said......axes suck for vegetation. My Mukti may be monstorous but itll still take out thin stuff decently.

Anything else?

Have you looked at Ontario's Spec Plus lineup? They have a lot of choppers, and while it's not technically "new" they somewhat recently rereleased their SP-5 Bowie which had been discontinued for awhile, and might be something you'd be interested in. I want one myself, but haven't got it yet(but I know it'll be good, based on my experience with their other Spec Plus blades).

Me, other than the Baryonyx I ordered yesterday, I'm waiting till the new Condor lineup before I buy new choppers, cause I do love me some Condor.

I've been on a machete kick lately and the new wood handle El Salvador machete has been high on my want list. I hope Condor's 2014 lineup hits in June, I'm pulling my hair out waiting. I may buy me an another Tram or an Imacasa of some kind to hold me over.

Ive got a Golok and Barang by them, and had a Parang for a bit. Condor makes great stuff

Yeah, I've got enough Condor stuff to equip a small nation-Golok, Pack Golok, Barong, Parang, Village Parang, Swampmaster Panga, Tapanga, 12'' Mountain Knife, Boomslang, Hudson Bay, Engineer Bolo, Thai Enep, Kukri Machete, Matagi, Crocodilian, Bush Knife, Dundee Bowie, Speed Machete, Thunderhead Machete...plus a few Imacasas for good measure(really dig the 18'' Colima I got from Baryonyx). There's still more I want though(like the Viking Panga and the Discord), and the new lineup has some sweet stuff too.

Ive really been considering the Engineer Bolo and Hudson Bay.

The Eng Bolo is...basically an axe in machete form. Seriously, the thing's a beast, weighs more than most of my actual hatchets and tomahawks, something like 2.5 pounds or more. Hudson Bay would make a great camp knife.

Got both mine from Baryonyx, so they came awesomely sharp to boot.
