So what's the deal with spec ops sheaths

I was checking out the combat one and it seems like you could maybe put a 9 in there...does anyone own one or have knowledge about them...are they crap? Or are they dtf with your knife?

They are very high quality; don't think you will be disappointed. Not sure on your size you will need though. Construction of the sheath is spot on.

No on the 9.

There was some talk in the Busse forum about a possible Spec-Ops "Extra" Long that would take 9-10" knives. I haven't heard a peep lately.

The Long Spec-Ops will handle the 3, 5, and 7.
The Short Spec-Ops works well with the 2, 10, and (I assume) 8.
On versions with thumb ramps, you have to heat up the insert and mold it to fit.
There's intel on this process somewhere around here. Be sure to have some Krispy Kreme donuts.

Total junk. Don't waste your time. ;) :D

I hear the ESEE Junglas kydex sheaths have a dropin fit with the 9.
I have a Basic Modular, fits my 7 perfectly, ramp and all.

Cool..I will check out the sheath for that as well. Just not happy with the stock 9 sheath..it's like strapping a buick to the side of your leg..I have to run and climb and the sheath(not the knife) is a major problem.

The Junglas sheath is excellent. I have no idea if you can get one without the knife, but Jeff's liable to do anything if you say his lips are purty.

i wonder if ESEEeee sells more sheaths than knives, and wonders why? :)

Confirmed in real time on my end. It snaps in quite nicely.

Texas Hunt Co. is another, cheaper alternative if you're not too concerned about color variety. Cheaper as in price, not quality. As far as I know they are manufactured in the same facility with the same materials as the Spec Ops sheaths. Could never figure out why the Texas Hunt ones were cheaper in price...

It will not fit a 9" knife ,I have the large(8") version ,put a slim ruler in the opening and it's max 8",fits a Koster muk and I have some nexus knives that fit good also-these are super nice sheaths excellent quality, the econo. version doesn't have the 'made in USA' logo, mine doesn't anyhow, a little bummed.
