So what's the deal with spec ops sheaths

I picked up one of the foliage shorts when they had them on clearance for my bk10. I wonder if you could fab up a different plastic insert for the long sheath for the 9?
 
I'm sure it'd be possible. The only problem I can see is that the retention strap would no longer be in ling with the handle. That's assuming you planned for the extra inch to extend above the edge of the nylon near the top.

As far as I know they are manufactured in the same facility with the same materials as the Spec Ops sheaths. Could never figure out why the Texas Hunt ones were cheaper in price...

I just received my Spec-Ops combat master sheath for my BK2. The tag says both SpecOps and TexasHuntCo on it.

The sheath; well it's awesome. Adjustable handle strap, heavy duty construction. My Leatherman Super Tool 200 fits perfectly in the pouch. The retention without using the strap is great. The "550 cord" is definitely not paracord, whether or not it's "550" I don't know.

The best part is that it's "MADE IN THE USA" !

Mine is the Military Camouflage and it's a tan and green digital camo. Whether it's desert tan and OD green I don't know. I'll get a picture of it later. Maybe it's what your looking for......
