Ive been looking at some Mantis Knives recently and they look like high quality knives, with designs that remind me a lot of ZT. Their specs and design seems solid from what ive read but I cant help but notice only negative reviews about them? Are they just for show or are they actually functional? They seems quality and I really dig their designs, im just curious about them. Are they another Dark Ops? :D

LMAO

In short, it's a company with a very shady owner that sold out his own father for design rights. Just google "Jared West knives", plenty will come up;)

Quartermaster is the new mantis knives and they use questionable materials that may or may not be sourced from overseas.

Beware...

I'll try to leave snobbery at the door here.

Honestly, for the money you spend on Mantis you can get: better designs, better ergonomics, better steels, better handle materials. All from a company that is a lot more reputable.

On the other hand, Mantis is one of the top brands of choice for any self respecting mall ninja who is on the late night prowl for an evil doer that he can use his "Mad Skillz" on

Their descriptions are so late night tv esque..

"Take a good look at this knife…have you ever seen anything like this? We put quite a bit into this piece. We put all sorts of drill holes into this for a few different reasons; aesthetics, wind resistance, and decrease of drag…ha!
The trademarked red accents will let you know who made it, but the “almost” perfect triangle blade shows us all what MANTIS KNIVES is up to…frame locked of course and the integrated belt clip complete the package.

All I know is that most of they're knives seem to be made for the mall ninja or tacticool enthusiast

Not my thing, but different strokes for different folks

Mantis got a bad reputation on BF early on when they got caught "fibbing" about what blade alloys they were using. "Once burned, twice shy" as it were. There's been enough continuing "haziness" about the company that, even if one were interested in design, most of us would tend to spend our money elsewhere.

The "laser guided knife" episode didn't help either.

Don't forget the "mantis militia" spamming forums to get knives. That doesn't fly even if the knives were not fishy and dumb.

HAHAHA ok thanks guys. Now that I look at it closer, you guys are right haha. I wont go near any of these knives.

Check out these links to brush up on that entertaining subject:

They really brightened a few boring weekends for me with this stuff.

The only thing they made worth looking at was the Warren Thomas designed coin knife. They also sent me a free knife when I bought one, but it broke while getting it out of the plastic clamshell.:foot:

The laser guided knife is for those of us who find it difficult to make a cut parallel to the blade's edge.
