So What's You Drinking 2nite?

Report from the French Front:

Calvados is pretty darned good. Little bit of apple flavor there amidst all that bloomin' alcohol. I could easily drink this again! :thumbup:

The cognac?? Truthfully, far too classy for me. But it tastes great -- smooth, with a nice, even burn. And an almost instant buzz. I think my Gallic friend forgot to tell me just how much alcohol a shot of this stuff contains. I think it hits the frontal lobe before it reaches the liver.

Woof! :eek::eek::eek:

Greg45 - you clearly enjoy Islay's if you like Laphroaig. If you ever find yourself staring at a 15 year old in a shop then consider buying it. All the flavor of the 10 year old but with a smoother ending. Another couple of personal favorites are Lagavulin and Ardbeg. Ardbeg can be a little over the peat top sometimes though.

I agree that Laphroaig 10 year old is one of the best bangs for your buck in single malts out there today.

Just bottled my own beer today - a nice little cervasa styled kit. Tipping my glass to you HOGs out there even though I haven't quite joined your club (yet)...

Thanks for the info, kgd!

I almost went for the Ardbeg instead of the Talisker, but decided that I'd try a Lowlands version for the first time. That 15yr old Laphroaig sounds good - maybe it'll be one of those "special occasion" keepers if I ever get my hands on some! :thumbup:

Tonight would be Glenfiddich Special Reserve single malt :D
Doubles on the rocks :thumbup:

Is it wierd that I only feel like an alcoholic when I'm drinking malt liquor or $13 a gallon whiskey? Haha, I guess for most they're only one step away from a parkbench when they're drinking that stuff. I still have a taste for Old English....started drinking it when I was around 13 so maybe it's more of an emotional attachment.

I know exactly what ya mean!! OE 800 and Ranier Ale!!! Ive got Tsing Tou, Kirin, Modelo, Bohemia etc etc and alot of the time I reach for the OE!!! But cheap hard jar kills me! No can do, well I will if I gotsta, but Monarch is some hangoverchit!!!!! And I think it is some sort of weird attachment to the early teen beer steelin, I mean borrowin or pimpin days!!! Beer tasted so much better back then, I still crave that perfect beer tast!! There was nothing like a cold whatever the brand, beer!!

I had a lot of nice drinks tonight....Ranging from Dom P to a glass of JWB. To be honest entirely honest: My favorite drink is always a cold one at the end of a long hard day. When you wake up at 5am, hit the Gym, go to class all morning and then work your 8 loading trucks into the night you get home just wanting SOMETHING cold to drink and to get off your feet. Hell, I'd sometimes take a frosty YOOHOO over a glass of JWB....that's the damn truth :p

let's bump this thread back up! Who's doin' a little Thursday night boozin'?
