My budget is less than $150. I am looking for a nice EDC. I was looking at the Benchmades (specifically Griptilians in D2 and the Ritter Griptilian). But I am now thinking that I need to expand my search. I like the Benchmade 420, but it looks a little chunky. Thanks for any of your thoughts.

benchmade 941 or 943, but i think they are being discontinued. check ebay, and you won't be let down with this work horse

what about BM630 It is a great knife and feels like a vault door opening the you open the knife( not saying it is hard to open just feels solid) It can be had for $150 or less. John

BM941 is awesome - I got mine a year ago right before they discontinued them. I have seen them around though with prices steadily dropping to as low as $100 - I paid almost 2x that a year ago. Definitely a workhorse and no gripes about performance or anything - I loved it so much I got the 941 LE model for display. I only replaced it as my EDC with a Harsey T-2 for the size of the blade and that it's S30V. The 941 is 154CM. That was my first experience with 154 and it really is a good strong steel. Only beef is it still chips a bit too easy for my tastes. Hope you find what your looking for.

For an EDC, I like a knife that will survive prying in event I need it for a rescue situation such as a car crash.

For me, that means I carry the Spyderco Manix, or the Strider SNF. Possibly something as small as the Paramilitary.

My favorite EDC, and under $150? Hmmmmm, let me think. Well, for a bit more, I would say the Buck/Mayo TNT, it is perfect for EDC. What else? I am partial to Spyderco's, they have fantastic knives for EDC!! Do yourself a favor and check them out.

Manix or Paramilitary by Spyderco. Both are super strong, made in the USA, have large opening holes, use s30v (arguably the best steel for EDCs).

I suggest the Paramilitary, without a doubt one of Spyderco's best.

Smudge, did you ever decide on the Native Vs. Delica?

My favorite EDC is definately the Spyderco Chinook II. Some other good ones include BM 710, Paramilitary, and Lonewolf T2.

I would find a Benchmade Ares before they all dry up...

Can't go wrong here! Even if you don't end up carrying it, you'll have a discontinued BM knife! (this is a nice solid knife BTW)

I am leaning towards a Griptilian, but just trying to figure out if I should get the Mini or Full size

So far nothing has been able to kick my plain-edge Spyderco Atlantic Salt from my pocket.

It's ugly!
Ugly and yellow!

But it slices and dices as well as knives costing 10X the amount.
And it's impervious to rust.
And it opens with the greatest of ease.
And it's light-weight.
And it's comfortable to carry and use.
And it's not too expensive to replace.
And the bright yellow makes it easy to locate.

Altogether, it's a rather well thought-out knife.

Good luck,
Allen.

The Spyderco Para Military has that wonderful full flat ground S30V blade with the super grippy and egonomic G10 handle and the always trusty compression lock. Don't forget the always handy finger choil and reliable thumb hole opener.

My fav edc is my Cold Steel X-Large Voyager. (Yes I know Lynn Thompson sucks) The 5" blade is legal here in TX; and it handles anything I can throw at it. Its also cheap enough so that if it is lost I wont be too bummed. I would hate to lose a Benchmade. They make top of the line production knives but I wish they would offer larger blades on their folders.
