So what's your "Grail" knife?

Close ;) Andy referred to it as a Santokumuk in a 2009 thread in another forum -- there's just something about a wide wharncliff style blade in thick(er) steel that is just cool to me! While the Santokumuk was designed to be a kitchen only blade, something between this and a woodchuck would be pretty freaking cool !!

I totally agree. A 6 to 6-1/2 inch blade in 1/8" flat grind or even 3/32 high grind. In needs just a bit of belly and the blade needs to be 1-3/4 inch wide to give adequate finger clearance.

I think at this point I would be looking for a runt in crimson so i could carry it everywhere or a Lonestar...... I'm sad to say I don't have a Lonestar and I'm from the Lonestar State.......

Camp Nessie, O1, BEB with natural pins and liners along with blue pin stripes. That one would definitely get some miles put on it.

The one I tried to get today but missed by ten posts all with the same time stamp....

I've been thinking about this since the thread appeared. Like others, narrowing down to one is difficult. Apparently impossible for me, as the best I can do is get to two:

A coconut handled Leuku in tapered 5/32 O1 (maybe even 3/16?)

A scandi bushcraft Karda in 3/32, handle in Westinghouse micarta (alternately OD or natural), ideally a blue pinstripe (except with OD; then white)

Edited to add: the BCK would be even better in electric orange. Forgot about that. Carry on.

Facemelting.
My favorites.
I would love a shot at buying or trading for these.

A matching set of Muks: Camp, Reg, Stubby (and a Kodiak)

Stainless preferred, tapered tangs, black canvas bolsters over a burlap (sapphire, orange, emerald, ruby, black, evergreen - order of preference) and a mosaic pin in the burlap.

I like the way you think. That would be an awesome set.

That would really Muk things up....but in a good way :thumbup::thumbup:

I like the "three muk trio" idea, too. And I never realized the class the single "beauty mark mosaic" added until I got my esquire (tuxedo w/single mosaic). It really transforms the look. Too my eyes, the all mosaic pin knives look a bit overdone, like a pretty girl wearing too much makeup. But I tend to prefer things to be understated, and not everyone is that way, so I think it's great that Andy can look beyond what any single person likes and constantly evolve: overstated & understated, small hands & large, wood & synthetics, stainless & carbon, pocket knives & choppers, and so on.
