What do you think of SH vs Ergo? InFi vs SR101? Who's going to be able to sheath the Rat Hawk? Anything?

What are we waiting for this time?
I like the SH better.
I like INFI better.
And I know this guy that can sheath anything!!!!:D
Really it is good to see someone else with weird hours.

Wet, my personal preference on the SH vs E is mixed. On the SH and BM, I prefer the SH versions. On the NO and BA, I like the E (but still like my tubed SH-BA.)

My SHSH-II will be my "in-casket blade", I'm takin that pup with me.

As far as the Rat Hawk, there will be some skilled masters with some hot products.

I originally purchased 2 SH-E as my first Busse knives ever. When I finally got them I said "holly sh!t these are awesome! :D" and after that I said "sh!t!, these handles are way too big for me" :grumpy:

After that I got a SJ and it was 'love at first... hold?' my favorite all-purpose knife by far now. :)

Speaking of the Ergo handles.. I can see why they are set at an angle for chopping, but why are they so darn tall? I mean, the width seems right, and the length is perfect, but the height of them seems way out of the norm for an average hand size. Isn't it maybe better to have a slightly smaller handle then to have one too big? To me it makes for a more secure grip. Then- when you add the cold weather factor that you will encounter in the outdoors, you also add the gloves that go with it, and you now have a large handled knife combined with some thick material to keep your hands warm which makes for a very un-secure grip on your precious 9 1/2" bladed beast :(

I'm really looking forward at whats to come after the ergo models are discontinued. Hopefully some characteristics of the older straight handles will come back. [/rant]

So far I like the straight handles,but I haven't held a NO or a BA...yet.

Infi/SR101...have both couldn't hurt either. Just got tired.

Rat Hawk...David I love leather, but I just don't see cow hide containing this monster. The blade is scary enough. That pointy end makes me shudder just looking at it. If you fell or something while wearing it (I'm famous for falling asleep wearing blades) it would really put a hurt on you. Plus I never realized how big it is till the comparison pics with the hatchet. Any ideas yet on how you're going to do it?

Hey Wet

You fall asleep with hatchets on your side?? Wife must love that

I am thinking kind of a handle down kind of thing when ever anybody gets one or when they come out & I get one I will post some pics for all to enjoy.

Well it is time to go coat my lungs with more kydex dust see ya all Manyana!!

Truth be told, I love all of it for different reasons. The INFI is just awesome. The SR101 is high on my list for it's resilience and strentgh to cost ratio, got to love affordable hard use tools! I have average hands and the ergos feel alright to me, gloved or otherwise. I have some straight handles now, but they are relegated to safe queen status. I just can't bring my self to spank that bird's beaked SH II!!!! I am really looking forward to the new evo of the line though. The rumblings from the ground indicate great things are coming our way!

I'm of a mind that wheather you get Busse in INFI or A Swamp Rat in SR101.....you are buy a quality piece that will peform far and above the call of duty!!!Can't go wrong with anything that come out of the Busse shop, nite or day!!!!!

David

Handle down? I figured a handle up sort of thing. What will it be a sort of break open design? Like a clamshell? I'm trying to wrap my mind around this. (I know,it wouldn't even wrap around the handle so don't say it:)) Haven't fallen asleep with a hatchet yet. HR and a coot once a CT. Boy was I sore when I woke up! No blood tho. :D

Pro and Viking

You are right on about that. I use my BR at work slicing open rolls of printing paper. About 30'/roll/2 sides. All I've been able to do is thin the finish a bit. Got real lucky. My partner loves to strop stuff! Says it's relaxing and he likes to see how sharp he can get the knives. I have a KaBar he uses to cut the tying twine plus the BR. While I'm setting up the machine he's not busy so he sharpens. I bring in other blades and say 'Let's see what you can do' I love it,but getting really lazy. Used a couple of Basics also and we are both trying to get the hang of the asymmetrical edge. Keep a sharpmaker and a Lee Valley strop and compound at work just for that. Just to PO the other crew we'll go 'look at this' and slice open a 1400# roll of paper holding the knife with just 2 fingers and a thumb. They use a grindstone   to sharpen their blade and have to use both hands to perform the same task. No I won't let them use my blades. (It was an old blade of mine they put on the grindstone ) So anything that comes out of Wauseon is okey dokey with me.
