So who here is the best cook? (or HOGish cook off)

Taste IS subjective....a lot of cats from the south and midwest might not like some of the more exotic or spicy things I cook but I guarantee everyone would die for one of my bourbon or teryaki steaks or my kalua pig cooked in the ground for a good while.

Guess which knife I shave em with Guyon?

While some are on sharing marinades, here's a simple one...sorry but I was taught to measure with my hands, eyeballs and tastebuds:

Teryaki
fresh minced garlic
fresh minced Ginger
a little orange zest
finely chopped pineapple (or even blended a bit)
fresh ground pepper
sesame oil
sesame seeds

It works great...you can take out the zest and or Ginger depending on taste but everything else is MANDATORY. And add chopped green onion if you're going to bake it all together.

The other day I made teryaki chicken breasts on the grill then briefly fried pineapple slices in butter mixed with brown sugar the hit the pineapple on the grill real quick and made teryaki chicken sammiches on sweet sesame rolls. Was off the hook!

All of that looks amazing oldrich. Grill marks are perfect on both that steak and the veg.

Red snapper is one of my all time favorite fish. Did you fillet the fish yourself? Looks delicious!!!

Edit; looking at these pics I think either you, or someone in your family is professionally trained in culinary arts! :P

OK, I need directions, details and ingredients!!!! This all looks great so far...share the secret people!!!!

I love how the dog got in a picture, its expression says you keep on taking pictures but as soon as you turn around...

Unfortunately I don't take a lot of pics of the normal food I cook.

Edit: This was my inspiration - Day Of The Tentacle, and old Lucas Arts computer game.

Hi Folks

Here is my own recipe for Cajun Candied Baby-back Ribs.

Moon's Candied Baby Back Ribs
8/10 lbs baby back ribs (3/5 racks) cut apart into individual ribs
Ground cayenne pepper
Salt

1 grease (or use spray non-stick coating) 3 cake pans.
**I have been lining the pans with alum. foil recently**
2 sprinkle salt and pepper evenly on bottom of pans
3 arrange ribs on sides in pans
4 sprinkle salt and pepper evenly on top of ribs
5 bake in 300 degree oven for 1 hr
6 pour or spoon liquid from pans and discard
7 spoon glaze over ribs
8 continue to bake at 300 degrees until tender (1 more hr)
9 place on platter and drizzle 1/2 of sauce over ribs
serve rest of sauce for dipping

Honey Mustard Sauce
1 cup (8 oz) creole (horseradish) style mustard
(I use Luzianne Creole or Koops Horsradish from Krogers)
1 cup (8 oz) dry white wine
(I use Gallo chablis blanc - the cheap stuff)
1/2 cup (4 oz) honey
** you can make this with 1 part mustard,1 part wine and 1/2 part honey if your mustard is 12oz etc. **

1 add all ingredients in saucepan on medium heat
2 simmer 15 mins, stirring occasionally - the longer you simmer it the thicker it will get.

Glaze
1 cup (8 oz) hot pepper jelly
1 cup (8 oz) dry white wine

1 combine in saucepan on medium heat
2 simmer until jelly lumps are gone (I will go to soft-ball stage using a candy thermometer)
3 spoon over ribs at the half-way (1 hr) point after draining the grease from the ribs

best regards -

mqqn

That's hilarious! All these years I've been a Day of the Tentacle fan, and I never realized how much Purple tentacle looks like Grimace!

Good eye! :p

If you're interested in a particular recipe I can post it... just tell me.
As for the dog - yes, that's exactly what she would do!:)

The snapper was already filleted from the shop. I had it for the first time and it's really a tasty fish.
And here are some grill marks pics of the sirloin beef steak from a grill-pan.

Thanks. No, nobody from our family owns a restaurant, nor is trained in culinary arts. But I'm inetrested in creative art and that somehow connects for me. Food is just one of the pleasures of life for me and since we live only once, I want to enjoy it as most as possible. It's kind of a hobby of mine and I always try to widen my outlooks and to imrove at this...
