So who's on board?

I just got off the phone with Mindy. She said the first new CRK model to come out will be a fixed balde followed later on in the year by a folder. I asked if it would be available in Damascus or with different woods. She said it's too early to tell what they'll offer.

I bet it will be another small integral like his first ..outegral something..I would like that!

So, we are mostly all signed up for the new CRK. But which list are we on, fixed or folder? I'll take one (at least) of each, because I am a cultist and have blind faith that CRK will please me...

JKI I agree. But I have little use for a fixed blade so it will have to be a real winner for me to bite. I'm bummed because I thought thtat the folder would be the first to come out. Oh well I guess we'll just have to see!

The fixed blade will be the Scout! If so, sign me up for two!!! I agree with you Scott Dog, not all FB CRKs are my cup of tea either, but except for the limited Freyja(sp?), I have thought enough of the last four (2 GBs, Warrior, and Nkonka) to acquire them, so the odds are turning positive...

If you haven't seen the 2 DVD-set all about Chris Reeve knives I highly recommend it. On the 2nd DVD they show all the current prototypes and from watching the DVD it's fairly easy to tell what the new folder and the two new fixed blades will look like since Bill Harsey is shown handling and talking about them. It's very apparent that Chris Reeve knives is really honored and excited about making more knives for our Special Forces and for that matter I am too!

Well for those of us who haven't seen the DVD....don't keep us in suspense man!

I know I know :) I guess since the DVD is public this info is quasi-public as well. The two fixed blades that are shown on the DVD are in the same style as the Yarborough i.e. full tang with Micarta on both sides and co-designed by Bill Harsey.

One of the fixed blades has a less wider blade than the Yarborough or Roberts Warrior and seemed around 5.5" long and was designed for a specific US Military group, but I'm sure a version will be available to collectors/general public. I'll have to watch the video again to see what the name was.

The other looked more stout with a wider blade and more curved cutting surface and they showed it with two different colors of finish - one a more tanish dark earth color and the other had the normal finish. I believe the micarta was also different on each model.

Ok, now the folder. It appeared to be a liner lock (not frame lock) with black micarta or G-10 handles. The handles have a very interesting pattern of deep alternating grooves that made the handles look like alligator skin. Blade shape was more tactical in nature than Sebenza but still very similar.

Again, it appeared all of these were being designed with specific agencies in mind.

They did show some custom knives by Chris Reeve himself that were amazing, but I have a feeling (hopefully I'm wrong) that they don't have plans on making them. One was a frame lock but it looked like it only had half a handle and the other had a unique locking mechanism where when the blade is open you twist the bolster to lock it.

Did anyone notice that it does say "Umfaan Being redesigned - Not available until further notice" at
http://chrisreeve.com/pricelistsebenza.htm
I dont know how long that has been up there but at the very least it indicates that the umfaan is not gone forever. Unless it was posted on thier site with good intentions years ago and has since gone the way of the dodo but might this next year be the year it comes back?

If it is a replacement for the Umfaan; you are going to see a lot of P O' d people around here who have paid big bucks for a collector item.

I will wait and see and buy another CRK folder; not really into fixed blades other than in my kitchen.

I am new here but I do not see it being a replacement for the Umfaan .
Anyone have any new info on this for 08 ?
