So you don't own a single Spyderco?

Let's just pretend you don't own a single Spyderco but you are going to buy one with all the knowledge you have now about them.

What model will you buy? You can only buy 1 today, so choose wisely.......Oh....and price is not object, it just has to be a production model. Mod's later. :p

Endura. FFG

I have a FFG Delica, but would like the longer blade.

But that depends on your budget. Different answer for a higher budget.

It wasn't that awfully long ago that I was that guy - no Spyderco, despite a long history with knives. My first was a Gayle Bradley. There was more that I disliked about that knife than I liked. Next was a PM2 - I liked a lot about that, but it just didn't feel right in hand. After that, it was a Manix 2XL - I liked just about everything about that...except the feel of the peel ply cf (it's the S90v version). Next was a Manix2 - my favorite so far; but it was never able to displace my regular carry. Pretty sure the Military was next - lots of positives; but, overall, I was ambivalent. Last, but certainly not least, I bought a Sage 2 - I loved it...it is smaller than I like, but I bought a second to get me past the "like it too much to use" thing. As it turns out, I still don't carry it because of the size; but it has me thinking that a set of ti (or aluminum) scales would turn the PM2 into something I'd carry. Don't get the wrong idea - I have no issues with g10...but Spyderco seems to lose me with their scales.
I've pretty much moved on - I recognize the quality of Spyderco knives, and you can see that I've TRIED to like them; but we just don't click. (I might still try different scales for the PM2 and Manix2, at some point)

I only have one Spyderco, the Delica4 FFG. If I didn't have one, I would still make that my choice.

Slysz Bowie. As close to a perfect knife for me as I have found so far.

Delica ZDP189 ~~ EDC - 365 day's a year I have at least one of these on me.! Love that Knife.*** { I have over 300 Spydies "8" of them are of the Delica ZDP189""..! I would say I like it a little.! lol

Great choices so far everyone. Keep em coming! IMaybe thinking about buying the one that gets the most votes by tomorrow. Surprised nobody has mentioned a military or para 2.

So, the rules of this hypothetical situation are a bit vague, Can I buy the Warrior today and the Tighe Stick later this year? But I'm going to assume that you're getting at a "one and only one, ever" kind of scenario, so I'm going to say the Civilain.
I bought mine about 11 years ago and it's one of the few that survived the cull in 2012 (I had just about every high profile sprint released over the course of five or six years). I guess the ZDP Caly 3 is still here too (I ground that thing down to .005" at the edge so it has unique capabilities), but if they were all going to go away forever except one I think I would just go ahead and keep the Civilian.
It's kind of "the" iconic Spyderco, and I love the Spyderedge, and I like big knives, the handle is really comfy. Of course anything would work but if I'm only going to carry one Spyderco I want that one.

Im not saying you only get one knife forever. I'm asking, with all you know about Spydercos now that you own them and all that you've learned about them and what jobs they perform best, the question is what one would you buy FIRST if you could only buy one just for today.

IMHO, the Stretch is the single best knife Spyderco has ever produced. So, depending on my finances, I'd purchase either a FRN/VG-10 PE Stretch to keep "as is", or one of the Nishijin Glass damascus ones and have it customized with wood scales.

Delica. It is the most useful knife I own and my more expensive knives sit unused because of it.

That would be a hard one. My first instinct would be the faithful Delica FFG but I honestly would probably take a Caly 3.5 in G10.

Adam hit it with his G-10 Caly 3.5. I prefer it in ZDP-189 steel. It is totally capable. Get the 3" if you are faint of heart.
:)

Kuhkri is what I just pulled off the top of my head today.

Caly is a great recommend, above.

But yeah, the title is correct; I don't own a single Spyderco, I'm a happy owner of several! :p :D
