So you don't own a single Spyderco?

I don't know how I'd pick just one... I absolutely love both of the ones I have and either one would be fine for the question(Dragonfly2 ZDP-189 and Chaparral I), but for a definitive answer(for most people; see below) I'd probably have to go with a Caly3/CalyJr/Caly3.5. Those seem to be right in the sweet spot in terms of size and ergonomics and blade steels and such, while having a more up-to-date design than the Delica or Endura.

All that said: The next real knife purchase I want is a Techno, and I'm not sure I wouldn't pick that one based on the times I've held it. Some people meet a certain product and it just really does something for them and I might take a Techno first even before owning it.

Delica. It is the most useful knife I own and my more expensive knives sit unused because of it.

Same here but I think I'd buy the millie and use a sak for edc at work. I don't use the millie much but it's one I wouldn't get rid of. So if I only get one, it'd be that. Luckily I have both. :D

If I only get one I will go with a VG10 Stretch FRN. Perfect ergonomics, really easy to sharpen and holds an edge a long time.

Great choices so far everyone. Keep em coming! IMaybe thinking about buying the one that gets the most votes by tomorrow. Surprised nobody has mentioned a military or para 2.

I carry a Sage 1 at the office and an all black PM2 at home and on the weekends. If I had to choose only one, it's the PM2 all the way. That knife is an engineering marvel. It comes out of the box with the smoothest blade action I've ever felt and it only gets more buttery as you cycle it. It almost doesn't feel real ... unless you test the sharpness. And for the price, it can't be beat by anything anywhere IMO. (Caveat: while I've owned my other Spydies for a bit, my PM2 is a recent acquire. We're still on our honeymoon.)

The Sage 1 is a class act though. A subtle clip and "pretty" scales make it read a lot more "gentleman's folder" than the PM2 for certain. It also reads that way compared to the Sage 2 - another great knife but with a different personality than the 1.

Based on reading about them and looking at photos plus my general tastes I would buy a Para2 and a Starmate. I have wanted a Starmate for a long time but have never held one. I have so many knives now that I have decided I don't need to buy a Starmate even if I found one. As for the Para2, there is so much positive about them I can't imagine a person not buying one. Beyond those 2 I might think about a larger and/or heavier knife for work use and might pick a Manix 2 XL for that.

Paramilitary II my one and only. Every time I think about buying another I ask myself how much better can it get?

If I could only buy one? If I lived near corrosion, the Pacific SE. Otherwise a Bradley folder.

Don't own one. Still don't know much about them. So from what I've gathered overy my last couple days of membership and checking out a bazillion posts, I'd get a paramilitary 2.

Not a massive Spyderco fan but the PM2, Endura and Pacific Salt are all pretty good.

Also the Southard and Vallotton are pretty cool. Good Luck.

PM2 no question. There's a reason why it's so popular. You said regular production knife but if we included sprints it'd be my grail, PM2 CF/S90V (to go with my CF/S90V Manix and CF/S110V Native 5 :D )

First Spydie I bought was a green FRN delica 4 in ZDP-189--gave it away to a friend last year who was moving away. I noticed a slightly off center blade on that knife, and the ZDP seemed to get dull pretty quickly. My mom bought me a black PM2 last Christmas, and I like it equal to my Sebenza, which is a large 21 insingo. The PM2 is, light weight, strong, quick and very safe to open and close. It's also super comfortable in the hand and the lock mechanism, the only one of its kind, seems to be pretty much impossible to kill, but does have some stick at this point. Sometimes it sticks pretty badly, which others have reported--thinking about sending it back for a tune up. To be honest it is an easier knife to use quickly than the Sebenza, but the Sebenza f/f, blade shape, buttery smooth action, attention to detail and tolerances make me like it just as much as my PM2. Only thing about the PM2 that sucks is the weakness of the tip, which my bus. partner broke when he was cutting a zip tie (slipped off the zip tie and struck some metal which may do the same thing to a knife with a beefier blade tip). The next knife I'm buying is the Sage 1 and I have been frequenting the web and youtube for reviews, but opinions seem pretty split for best Spyderco EDC, with the PM2 edging it out in my research..I'll check back with my opinions after it's acquired.

I'd want something that showed off Spyderco's use of high-end steels. Also something that highlighted how a lot of the great Spydercos let form follow function. With those in mind I'm thinking a sprint run Millie would be my first choice. If that wasn't available probably a Gayle Bradley.
