So you wanna know what's wrong with your computer hunh?

oh, and lest we forget this thread ;)

my daily use computer and work horse is a powerbook.

i post from it, work 8 hours a day on it,etc.

it's spent 6 WEEKS in a shop a year ago being made to work. short of replacing the lcd, they replaced EVERYTHING, including the case.

so. for the last 3-4 months, under heavy use, it's flaky, i can't afford to replace it. i give up and start swapping things around (tricky on a laptop), and guess what? it's the ram. one ram module failed. unlike a REAL computer, instead of saying "ram failed on test/etc" you have to run a third party program, to find out. how do you KNOW? kernel panics, even with the tester. a REAL compute would say "that ram is SHIT, i'm walling it off", but no. apple. go figure. it just gracefully crashes instead.

18004memory... it's their chip, but i blame apple for the behavior. a real compute would SAY "dude, that ram is wrong, get some new"... nope. it crashes, it flakes. it doesn't PRODUCE an error.

kudos to 18004memory, they'll send me a new factory RAM unit, for free under warranty (18 months ago)... i liked that so much, i bought me another one, and then i'll have 2 GB... :) right now under 512 MB, it's 100% stable. go figure.

so yes. all. computers. suck. the end.
