  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Soaps, creams, and aftershave.

I find cream better than soaps, but I'm wondering if my technique is wrong with soap? It doesn't seem to lather nearly as well as cream, perhaps I should use more water?

Soap is good for travel though as it goes in its own pot and you don't need a mug or suchlike to work up lather.

Taylor's cream gives a very fine lather indeed, even the lowly Williams isn't bad, the French L'Occitaine is also very good and has a nice juniper tang to it. I'm waiting to try another style of Taylor's-Eton College- as I don't really like the smell of their sandalwood&I've ordered some Vulfix Limes too. I've found that if you put a drop or two of Baby oil on your face prior to lathering, this really helps with smoothness.

I use a French L'Occitaine soap from the Cade line of men's products, in the shower, and it works just fine for a shaving soap. In reality I need nothing else. I have a friend that just uses what ever his wife buys for the bath. My cousin uses his wife's leg and "whatnot" shaving cream.

I use Gillette cream, a Wilkinson boar brush, and Old Spice after shave.
And of course my '59 fatboy
