SOB - bricks or no?

If you go for black micarta, you can allways sand it down like i did. I added some more handshape to it, thoug. In addition i soaked it with a mixture of 50% linseed oil and 50 % turpentine (ALLWAYS remember that this cocktail, mixed with cotton, can cause fire by itself!!!).

One Snakeskin Cultie and one Tigerhide Cultie in my pictures.

Happy New Year!!!

I like the brick pattern. Gives a little more grip if needed but you really don't even know it's there in use.

I just got my bricky CF (Thank, vxd. I was suffering from head-up-buttosis for a minute there..)SOB today. This is my first Busse with the brick pattern and I think it feels great. I don't care much for the look of the brick pattern, but I'm more concerned about how secure my grip on the handle is and it wins in that department.

Well, thanks to all the folks posting in this thread, I ordered a Blue/Black G10 SOB, with the brick pattern safe and unharmed. Can't wait to get it!

Weird, though, I've checked the order status page half a dozen times since then, and it still says "Awaiting Fulfillment". :)

OMG! The website said 4-14 weeks, but it's only been 5 days and the charge just went through! Excitedly waiting now :)

Meant to follow up on this earlier - my shiny new SOB arrived on the 21st! That's 17 days from order to delivery, way better than the official "4-14 weeks". Took a little to get used to the feel of the handle (my first G10 Busse, the others are all micarta), but I really like this knife - it's hard to put it down :)

I've been thinking about the SOB for a while now - the bricks are probably the main reason I don't have one yet. (Sometimes I forget about changing things like that)
Glad you like yours!

Personally, I'd say, if you go with G10, get the bricks. The added traction is helpful. With micarta, you could do bricks or no bricks. The thing is, the bricks really stand out when you look at screen-filling pictures, but looking at the knife in your hand, you see a wonderful knife, not the bricks (I started out in the same place, "nice knife, but I don't like the bricks" - now I have one, with the bricks, and it's a great knife).

BTW, a week and a half in, first mod - realized that the edges of the spine were a little too square for my taste, so I did a very small bit of "nuclear meltdown" style work on the first inch or so of the spine):
