There seemed to be at least a handful of people interested in a meet up for us SoCal members so I am setting up a day hike for anyone that is interested. This is just to see who would be down to go and then we can focus in on the when and where (it definitely won't be for a couple months at least because I know I'm busy and need advance notice!). I want to keep this open to non BeckerHeads too, as long as you're interested in Becker Knives and participate in this forum.

One possible plan: Day hike in Black Star Canyon in Orange County, then drinks at Paul's Cocktails in the Orange Circle.

After we have a rough count on who's going we can zero in on a date and location.

EDIT: We are roughly planning on October 6th.

Sign Up List:
1. RogueBowie
2. Dust
3. Myker
4. AM515
5. 1SHOT1KILL (And his boys)
6. Kabarcamber
7. DamnU
8. Hunter Sharp
9. Zackr1983

To sign up simply post "I'm in" and maybe what part of SoCal you reside in to help with deciding a central location. Also if you have any suggestions on places to hike/drink in SoCal. Hopefully I'm not the only one or it will be a very lonely hike haha. I will keep updates in this OP so it's easy to keep current.

EDIT: Latest Update
The Date: We have settled on October 6th

The Place: It is between Black Star Canyon in Orange County or the Red Woods, exactly where in the Red Woods not decided (Chantry Flats? San Gabriels?) Whichever place seems the general favorite will be the destination (my vote is for Black Star :)) Feel free to make your case one way or the other and I will try to set a mock itinerary within the next month.

Thanks guys, looking forward to it!

I'm definitely interested! Though Saturday is going to be the only day I'm available for a day hike..

Oh and I'm in Fullerton.

P.S. I'm going to take you up on that offer for a free beer and appetizer sometime in the future! :D

Added you to list. And come on in man! I work at the Johnny Rebs in Orange. Email me at seanberringer@yahoo.com for details bro.

I'm in, Pasadena area here, San Gabriel mountains are at my feet. Plenty of good watering holes around as well.

Saturday works but a Sunday would be even better for me at least, most likely have to work at least an eight hour shift Saturday's .

I'd be interested with plenty of notice in advance because I'm down here in San Diego

I'm interested...not a Beckerhead, but definitely interested in the brand. I reside in Mira Loma, my 2 boys may want to tag along...knife knuts in training.

I'm in ,as long as I'm not at the track. And what about Holy jims and then off to Cooks corner for the beer. Just a suggestion , id be up for anything.

Updated the sign up list! And don't worry guys, this is definitely not going to be in like a week or something, you will have plenty of advance notice. And Kabarcamper, I would be up for Cook's Corner (even though I don't own a Harley :D) but I am not familiar with Holy Jims, there's pretty waterfalls there, right?

Speaking of day hikes in SoCal, I'm new when it comes to all of this outdoorsey stuff so I was wondering if you guys knew what some good spots were to take day hikes? Nothing too crazy or difficult or anything like that, just some nice trails with nice scenery or anything like that. I'm in Fullerton so preferably nothing too far, just for leisure activity on weekends when I have free time.

Look into Forest Falls and Lytle Creek...not too teribly far from you and a great day hike full of scenery.

Thinking about some dates guys, please respond within this thread with preferences and availability. Thanks!

September 22nd (A Saturday)

October 6th (Also a Saturday)

I know it seems like far away dates but some of us require very advanced notice (including myself, I've got a kid and two jobs!) If anyone has any preference I will lean towards the most preferred date but if not I will just pick one and send PMs out to those that expressed interest initially and we will move past the preliminary stage of planning into making it happen. Thanks again for your participation guys.

October would be better...I will be in Ireland in September for my 10 year anniversary:D

Congrats man! 10 years, that's a big one! Well how about October 6th? You're the only one who has chimed in on a date so I will try to cater to you first :)

So, Oct. 6th guys, what's the word?

All you folks that are basic members, I can't PM you so please try to respond in thread if you actually plan to go, I would really like to make this happen and not just be a cool idea for a thread. If it comes down to it and there are only three of us who are confirmed, then I hope the other two show up because no matter what I plan on making the date we set!

P.S. Zackr1983 I added you to list, thanks!

Holy Jim is a very pleasant stroll, great family hike. You follow a stream up to a very small waterfall but it's nice and short. The last grizzly bear in California was shot there. I think they used to raise bees, I'm not sure raising is the right word but they kept bees and sold honey. Holy Jim is actually Cussing Jim, they used Holy Jim for the trail because it's more PC. I think he planted some type of berry there that he harvested and sold.

The route to the trail head is a little rugged.

A lot of tragic things have occurred at Black Star, kinda spoiled it for me.
