This was a good day in SoCal folks.

That was a great hike if i can say so my self. But even better was the company on the hike. we had great time lots and i mean lots of laughs. The day went by so fast I got no idea where the hours flew....
Now for the next hike and an over night... Some good ideas were thrown up in the air..

Sasha quickly put together this debris shelter. I've never seen anyone put one up so fast.

Looks great. If I still lived in SoCal, I would have joined you!

I hiked in the Pine Nut Mtns. today and saw an unusual sight: 7 large, dead roosters out in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of empty 410 shells nearby. They must have been dispatched this morning or the scavengers would have cleaned them up.

In any event, let me know about any overnighters you are planning because I'm occasionally in LA to work on a few things.

Thanks for the great photos!

They people in charge of the project I was supposed to be working on today were totally unprepared for the job so I literally sat on my butt for 8 hours!!! Damn it, what a waste of time when I could have joined you guys!

Dave i would make sure to let you know about the next trip we would make. Would you great seeing you again.

Sasha

Great pics  I love the mountains of California and the weather was perfect over the weekend.

Very cool guys. Let's plan an overnighter in the Spring. I wouldn't mind driving down to LA for that. How about somewhere in Angeles NF or the Santa Monica/Malibu mountains area?

You might consider La Jolla Canyon, north of Malibu and Point Mugu, near Leo Carillo Sate Park. There is a backpack-in camping area on the plateau above the canyon. You have to hike several miles and probably a thousand vertical feet of climbing but it is a pretty trail. There's a waterfall along the way and a pond near the plateau.

Once you are at the hike-in camp, you can set a base camp and day hike around the area. For variety, there is an exit trail that goes out to Pacific Coast Hwy via Sycamore Cyn to the south and another (very steep but safe) exit trail to the north.

The nice thing about this area is that it stays cool in the summer, unlike that 100+ degree Angeles Forest overnighter that we did a couple summers ago.

I imagine there are campfire restrictions but I expect that's true in a lot of SoCal.

Anyway, that's one option to consider.

Good stuff guys, I bet you all had a great time!

It's always fun getting together with fellow forumites, and the pretty ladies are a bonus!
