SOCFK problems

OK, nothing serious but I have experienced an annoying problem with my SOCFK. After about twenty wave draws the pocket clip and scales were seriously clapping and chattering. The culprit was simply loose screws which is not anything serious like a machining defect for instance, but it does kinda suck that all three pocket clip screws as well as at least two scale screws were loose.
I suppose lock-tite is the solution if these little buggers persist with backing themselves out eh??
Otherwise this knife is beautifully crafted. I actually prefer it to my Commander. Now, if Ernie would only make a plain edge version...

My SOCFK Tanto has a very stiff action which I am trying to wear in before taking it apart. I did not find any loose screws. The jury is still out on whether it will replace my Green-T Commander. I also wish for a plain blade version.

Regarding my blasphemous statement, allow me to clarify. I prefer my SOCFK to my Commander within the context of craftsmanship and ergonomics. Although both knives come from the same facility the SOCFK seems somehow a bit more precise in its machining. Maybe its the lines of the knife, or maybe its just me. Whatever the case I seem to perceive a diference. I also prfer the ergos of the SOCFK handle to that of the Commander. No biggie though, the Commander is an awesome folder and the above mentioned diferences are somewhat minor.
As for drawing cuts I would imagine that the Commander is hard to beat though. I am planning on a test very soon. I knew that roast in the freezer would come in handy!

Ark,

My thought's on the overall better fit an finish of the SOCFK is that since these are a relatively small run of knives, they put a little more TLC into them. I havn't handled one yet (tomorrow

) But that is my take on why these may seem more precise. Of the Commanders that I've owned, One of the original true satin, which was perfect, and one w/ a black blade, the latter had liners that didn't match up with the G-10 slabs, and seemed to be a little rough to me. I still really loved it, and wished that I hadn't traded it away

Now that the plain edges are getting harder and harder to come by. I would love to see a Plain edge SOCFK in either clip or tanto point, but according to The guys at Extreme outfitters most "operators" like the teeth, so there will in all likelyhood be no more.
(as a side note, I called them today, and they said that there are only about 20 or so of the clip points, and 40 or so of the tantos remaining, so if you want one, you had better get one. I got #50 of the clips, and he didn't think that there were going to be any more of those, just tanto's cause that is what most of their clients want.)

Mine is just really, really tight, so hopefully it will break in. I like the knife for reverse grip work, and it hides well. I still prefer my single ball detent, thick slab commander for smoothness, and most uses. I actually think in the apples to apples comparison that for a daily carry and abuse blade, I'll take the SOFCK over my CQC-6-That does not mean the 6 is for sale-. The SOFCK is a great performer in a small tanto folder.

Hey Ark,

Consider the whip cracked in the assembly room. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, I've just received my SOCFK from Extreme and it is excellent, as if I expected anything less !

It is a bit tight, but I now have the perfect excuse to open and close it in front of the Television all night, and you know the best bit, it didn't cost me a penny ! My wife brought it for me as an anniversary present !
