Today, after all the dwarfs, I wanted to make a "real" knife again.

But because all my blades are out for heattreatment right now, I dug out a old sticktang blade.
It was my second blade that I made with the beltgrinder and I put it away after Heattreament , because I didn't like it any more and because the "ricasso-shoulders" were not straight.

But since I had no other choice today, I crafted a knife from it.

Afer I haven't been able to get a good fit with brass and stainless and after I broke a wooden guard in the vise, I had this great idea

.

The old pair of socks that I had thrown in my paperbasket came to my mind
And then I thought if others are able to laminate whole handles from Army-tissues and underpants, why shouldn't I be able at least to laminate a bolster.

And I was able, as you can see.

I like the result more then I had expected it from the single parts :).

Here are some specs:

Lenght: 25 cm
Blade: 12,5 cm
Handle: old sock :D , epoxy, masur birch and ss-pin
Steel: 3mm 1.2842 (O-2)

Loking forward to your thoughts on the knife.

Cool idea! Whoodathunkit :D

I like the blade shape too--very utilitarian. Looks to have a thin edge as well...very nice.
