Forged out this spear today, from some 1/4" by 1 1/2" 5160. Working on polishing a spear for a trade for a friend in China for hunting boar and it is coming along great, and I wanted my own :D

Still needs some grinding, and heat treat and all that. Had to borrow the shaft from my other spear to try heft and balance and all that.

That's awesome! Are you going to leave the finish like that? The forged finish looks really cool.

Childzplay, thanks! yeah probably, I have to grind around the whole edge a bit to get a better cutting geometry but other then that it will be as is.

There's something way cool about having your own spear. Someday when my talent increases I would love to tackle a project like this.

Picked this guy back up, wow March of 2010 I started it! Got it HT'd, got to fix a little warp but other then that everything went good. Going to buy a pole tomorrow and fix it hopefully.

Hey, cool. A boar spear. Although it has no crossbar... seriously though, nice work. Socketed tools are fun to mess with, forge welding them is tough and something I'd like to practice more.

I made up some hardy cutters too, one for the hardy hole one for the pritchel hole, I call the one for the pritchel my 360 degree hardy :D
