Socom Delta blade rock?

Howdy,

I am new to the forum and wanted to asked any socom delta/elite/bravo owners if they have any blade play at all. The lock up on the blade is fine, no side to side movement at all. But there is a slight movement from back to front. If you were to slightly shake the knife when it is open you can hear the movement as well. I love the knife and will hang on to it, just curios of the experience of others who own one.

Is this common on all microtech folders or do i have an issue? The only comparison I have is a sebenza which is rock solid.

thanks for the help,
Andrew

if the blade moves front to back in the open position something is wrong. Honestly I dont know how you could have good lockup and lock rock at the same time. If you have lock rock in the open position that usually it means your lockbar isnt making contact with the lockface and there is a gap. The only way to correct that is to increase the bend of the lockbar to get a more positive interface with the blade. I personally would ask to exchange it if its a new purchase.

I own 4 of those knives, I cannot shake the knives and feel any movement. Is your pivot tight? I would not say it is common, but it happens more often with some knives than others. It's the lock type more than the manufacturer. What is interesting is the Delta has the exposed liners by the blade stops that should make sufficient contact. The pivot being slightly loose might have something to do with it.

Thank you for the responses. I can move the lock bar a hair more to the right once opened. When i hold the knife and my hand surrounds the lock bar the movement ceases. Can the bar be adjusted at all?

Interesting point about the pivot. I know i can buy the tool and self adjust. Being the Newb that i am, is it easy to do or can i over tighten it?

I would look into exchanging, but the dealer i bought it from has no others available and i cant find another. I do not want to send back to micro tech and wait months for it to come back.

Buy the pivot tool. Tighten the pivot a "tiny bit"...perhaps 1/16 of one full turn. Very little movement makes a LOT of difference. If you turn it too tight, it won't swing freely...so then just loosen a VERY small amount until good.
Try NOT to scratch up the pivot...so many folks do this and I hate that look. Of course, if more folks used a pivot tool instead of a shovel, it would help.
If tightening the pivot doesn't help, I would send it in...rather than trying to bend the lockbar myself. Experienced hobbyists can do that, but tyros like you and me might muck it up.

Sonny that is good advice.

I have read some stories on here of the poor customer service from Microtech. I will give the pivot tool a whirl an see how i make out.

thanks,
Andrew
