Soda Can Alcohol Stoves

k williams, check out zenstoves.net as they have a plethora of knowlage on how to build them.

Brandon,

Would you mind posting some pictures of yours as you make them?

I tried making one last week and I cannot get the flames to come out of the holes in the top of the can.

I figured that it would be a no brainer, but it is stumping me.
Thanks
John

DiverDn,

I'd love to post pictures, but I don't have internet at home, I just jump on here when I've got a spare second at work.

My first thought is that the inner wall of the stove isn't sealed enough at the top. If you've got a big enough gap it won't force the vaporized alcohol out of the smaller holes. Try making your inner wall taller or your top halve of the stove shorter, just by a quarter inch or so. Either one should help.

If you send me an email I'll forward you this instructions that I've been using.

damn guess i misse dout on this one. ive always wanted to try and make one but i tink it might be much easier with one to look at and model it after.

Just received my alcohol stove from Brandon. I've wanted to try one of these things out for awhile, and now I can. Pretty neat little thing. Now I'll have to go get some denatured alcohol so I can give it a try.

The rest of the stoves went out today. Let me know what you folks think!

Enjoy,

Brandon

Got it yesterday. Hopefully I'll be able to test it out soon. Thanks again!

Got mine tonight. Went to Wal Mart and got a 39 cent bottle of rubbing alcohol to try it out. Four cap fulls (just enough to test it right) well it burned for 12 minutes. Took about 1 to 2 minutes for the flames to start coming out the holes around the top but then it burned for about 10 more minutes.

I'm glad I got in on this cause I have been thinking of making one and looking at directions...but I hadn't seen any mention of the inside wall so I would have messed it up. I really like this little stove and I wanted to say thanks again.

I asked about Alcohol Stove in general....

So, Brandon was nice enough to offer me one...

And since I now have one, I can take pictures, and show how they work....

This image is of the the stove and a pot stand...

And with it lit, notice the flame is really only in the hollow center...

It is starting to get into it's stride, notice flame in some of the holes in the top...

And now you see the stove with the flame coming from the jets...

And fully engulfed...
