Who makes a better soddie, Kissing Crane or Boker tree brand? Is there another company, besides Case, that puts out a better soddie in that price range? The only other Boker I own, a carbon Trapper, has weak springs and the spey blade rubs like no other. Didn't know if this is common stuff from them or not. Never owned a Kissing Crane

I would say Case has the best one in that price range, but I may be a little biased. I have heard good things about the brown mules and with the wood handles, they are a little different.

Boker doesn't have the fit that Case does, all the Bokers I have owned (about five) and all the ones I felt had weaker springs and some blade wobble. The thing about Boker is that once you actually carry their knives for a while, you get a feel for the old world quality and they just seem more traditional and like a familiar friend.

I haven't been too impressed with their stockman, but I have really come to like the little Barlow that always seems to fight amongst my Case for pocket time. It is very well made and it has really good snap, just about right. It still has wobble on both blades but it doesn't hurt function any. I would rather get rid of the half stops than the wobble. I would really like to get a pen or jack knife from Boker in the near future.

BTW: if you get a soddie from Boker, pay a little more and get one from their German line, not the ones made in Argentina. I had one and it had many flaws that even I couldn't live with.

I have a Case, Eyebrand and a Queen. The Case has the best fit and finish but the Queen is a close second and the Eyebrand is not finished quite as well but it is acceptable. The Case came with a good edge is CV, the Eyebrand needed to be touched up. The Queen had a butter knife edge. I sharpened it on my Norton India stone and it took an excellent edge. Strong back springs. Queen's D2 steel is very good. Queen knives usually have to be thinned down or reprofiled before they can be sharpened. One reason I have sworn off queen knives because of the horrible edge they put on a very well made knife. Are you listening Queen?

I agree and have done the same.

I saw a used Queen/Schatt and Morgan soddie in amber stag last week at a flea market. Really nice looking, great walk and talk. Logo was different from current Queen.

I recently got a small yeller handled carbon soddie made in Argentina by Boker out of curiousity and was pleasantly surprised. F&F was good. A little work with a diamond stone and I had a shaving edge. Snapper of a backspring. No blade wobble. Got it from SMKW for 18$.Well worth it, I believe. I,m EDC,in it now.---KV--Oh yeah, back to the original question. I,ve also got a big Fightn' Bulldog{2 dog} wood handle soddie. Dont know if they still make them.--KV

Case, overall, has had the best F&F. I picked up a Eye-Brand Yellow Soddie recently and it is right on the money.

I have a Queen soddie in D2 in black.
A very well made knife for very inexpensive.
Holds a sharp edge a long time.

I just recieved a Boker sodbuster yesterday made in Argentina and its not bad for 14 bucks. I plan on carrying alot this summer so I will post on how it performs and holds up.

Case is #1 for me in CV. Left to right,Case Cv,Case Stainless,Queen D2,Bulldog.

Nice parade there chickenplucker.

CASE does a very decent Sodbuster, the Böker from Argentina I have is also a good for the money workman's knife, very sharp carbon on that!

German Bull do a stainless Sodbuster that has some VERY thick desirable stag on it,the blade needs a good sharpening though and I find the Sodbuster blade harder to sharpen than a Clip or Spear blade, don't know why...
