Lycosa - awesome. Thanks.

I like that. When I have one I'll show you mine!

Hope y'all have a great time
Thanks. Nice to get away sometimes.

Cha! She ships tomorrow. :)
Thanks again.

I like the way the leather develops a patina.

Leather is a nice touch, too. Thanks for sharing.

I'm honestly not trying to troll here -- I'm genuinely curious. But my question is, what is the point of these?

I reckon they look cool enough, but you can't even get your wrist through there to keep from losing the knife if you drop it (like perhaps while on a boat). Is there any functionality to having something dangling off the end of your pocketknife? Inquiring minds want to know.

what a wonderful thread.
Paracord wins but the leather is e great alternative.
I have a lot of stag tips and coins. If only my lab was not on standby I'd for sure made my own bead like I was making before.

These aren't as pretty as some of the ones shown before, but they're practical for my purposes. Either they can be used to attach the knife to a belt or belt loop, or they will help keep it from drifting all the way down in the pocket.

The second from the left, on the old Ulster, is adjustable for length. It allows me to make the knife hang down in the pocket vertically. And if I want to use it, I can stretch the cord out a bit without unclipping it from the belt loop.

Some people let the fob dangle from their pocket, pouch, or what have you and use that to draw the knife from said places.

I can get my wrist through the lanyard on mine, I like to carry it in my jeans front pocket with the cord hanging out. I don't have fobs or lanyards on all my knives, but sometimes I add a simple knotted fob of brightly-coloured paracord just to make the knife easier to spot if I drop it or put it down, or on very small knives to sort of extend the handle, to make it easier to grip, and make it easier to find in the pocket. Sometimes with my bailed clasped knives I link them to a chain.

Practical=also beautiful IMO

I would agree - beautiful in its simplicity.

Humppa -

And I agree with Modoc Ed and Jack on the fobs - for me it is simply to make retrieval a little easier from my pocket sheath and to "extend" the handle when need be.

I guess it's not a fob/lanyard, but I plan on getting a pocket dangler for my new GEC 21.
