Sodbuster Smackdown

Thank you trevytrev! Your pics are actually a lot better than most of the ones I was finding online. They do a better job of showing the color of the Micarta. I've got a birthday coming up at the end of the month and I'm trying to come up with ideas for the family. The natural or green canvas would be my 1st choice, but they are all sold out. That maroon Micarta might be a good alternative.

Messing around with my boy's Sodbuster got me interested in one :)

Update:

Got my GEC Bullnose in the mail today :). It is of a superior quality, thus justifying the price, and will be used often. The only issue I see now is learning to sharpen such a thin (compared to modern folders) blade. Eventually I'll get a Case Sodbuster in yellow delrin too. Thanks for your help guys.

Their great knives, I picked up my GEC Bullnose, the nifebrite glow in the dark model because the handle is slightly thinner and I love the thing. It's my favorite knife and it just begs to be used instead of being admired which I love about it. That the I have to admit my inner child loves the fact it glows in the dark and is the best dang glow in the dark I have ever owned.

Which Bullnose did you get?

Here you go!

Whoa. That's one good looking Soddy. Might have to try and track one down.

The standard black nylon version. I'll get the nifebrite one if they do another run, or perhaps a different model GEC with the nifebrite scales. I'd also buy a yellow version right away if they made one.

I have a question on the Case soddys. I've handled both sizes of synthetics, and they have some 'belly' to the scales, which makes them more hand-filling. If I spring for one of the natural materials, will the scales have similar shape, or be more flat?

Is the Sodbuster significantly more sturdy than equivalent folders? And what's up with the large pivot "shield" design? Does it really have such a large pivot?

The jigged bone scales on the Sodbuster Jr. are flat and is it has a slim profile.
