What software are you using (if any) to draw knife designs? I've heard references to Adobe, but I was wondering if anybody is using anything open source?

Also, does anybody have designs that they'd be willing to share or trade?

All of Lloyd Harding's stuff is free online:

might be a good starting point, anyway...

But to answer your question...I use AutoCad. Do a search on CAD or AutoCAD and you'll see what others use. (this has been discussed a bunch already)

I prefer pencil and tracing paper. Draw what you want and use the tracing paper to easily replicate the good areas so you can develop what you like faster.

I use Adobe at work and wont draw in it. hand work is faster for knives anyway.............

I clean the barstock and use a Sharpie to draw what I have pictured in my mind as an outline, then cut it out and start grinding-for stock removal blades.

I use Adobe Illustrator.

You can tweak things down to the fraction of a millimeter, and it affords you consistency, repeatability, and testable accuracy on some of the more complex folder designs.
