SOG 2017 catalog

i'm not seeing anything i like that wasn't already made beforehand, and there wasn't all that much beforehand. thanks for posting though appreciated.

I was stoked when I saw that some of the models had some fancy steels then I looked at the designs and the prices "factored in street price"

(sigh) maybe next year SOG, maybe next year...

I did like the mutitool that can fold to the size of a pen, that's awesome.

Finally got it to work. Honestly, I like all the baton multitools pretty well. That form factor is, for me, a whole lot easier to carry on a relatively constant basis than most more traditional MTs.

I've tried and I just can't get into Sog. Those knife designs for this year are just boring to me.

I wonder what the street price will be for that fixed blade? A lot of their stuff can be as much as half street.

If that Tac Ops isn't complete rattle-box crap like past SOG folders I've owned, I could see picking it up if it's fairly cheap.

They got a new owner who wants to turn stuff around at SOG and said they're gonna be making more USA knives. But I guess we will see.

I dunno. SOG's designs don't really pop out to me.

Shame, I've heard good things.

It is good to see that they are doing made in USA blades again.

They really need to go back over some of their older designs and modernize them though.

That's good info, I didn't know that. There's something very old school about older SOGs, so having quality products from them again would be nice.

Seriously. I've actually had good luck with Japanese made SOGs, and I like the Arc lock quite a lot, they've just fallen behind the curve in terms of price vs quality/materials. Fix that and I would be back on board.

Absolutely. I still have a Mini X-ray, which was one of my first "decent knife" purchases made years and years ago. I enjoyed that knife quite a lot, and so if they get back to that level of quality, and don't charge out the rear end for it, they might get me back on board. Plus, being made here? Well, let's just say that I'm one of those customers for whom that's a big selling point.

It would seem the USA made thing is a step in the right direction along with upgraded materials. Only time will tell though. At least they recognize what they need to do unlike some manufacturers (CRKT, I'm looking at you).

I've had almost all of the older Seki made fixed blades at one time or another. Nothing quite like them. The Pillar has that classic blade shape. If they can do more along those lines with upgraded USA produced stuff and keep it $150-$200 they could be a serious competitor again. Not too sure on the folders though. The Arc lock is great but the SAT folders are not so good and over priced. Autos are a no go for me as well, sadly.

The SOG banner seems like it has promise. I loved the SOG Zoom, but it had a lack of a finger choil I once slid forward and got cut... this seems to be fixed with a better steel also.
