Any body else been eyeing the new creed due to come out in may, I love the styling, where are SOG's made? How's the quailty?

Most SOGs are made in Taiwan. Some of the older models were made in Japan. I have 2 seal pups, seal team elite and a powerlock among others and I amn very impressed by their quality. If you want it get it.:D

While I happen to be a fan of AUS-8 steel. $250.00 seems to be a tad high for a SOG in that material bracket. It has a Kraton handle even. The knife is a great design with the big belly blade. A feature I actually like. But that seems a bit expensive to me IMO.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but am I the only one who is shocked with the new looks of pentagon? :barf:
I mean, what were they thinking?

Aus-8 seems to be their new "everything" steel. Actually, I dont think I see a single offering in SK-5 anymore...

When did they stop putting out their more premium blades (specifically the ones modeled after historical knives) in sk-5?

Its been years since ive seen a good knife at a good price from sog.

I guess it's all about how you shop, but I've been really happy with the two I've picked up in the last month. Of course, I didn't pay anywhere near full retail on them, but who does:D

I'm torn on the Creed. I really like the idea of it, seems like a great outdoors tool, but the pics aren't very flattering. If they lost the groove, and brought the tip down a 1/4", I'd be all over it.

The creed looks like an interesting knife, but I'm not sure that it would chop that much better than the other SOG Bowies - especially the new Tigersharks, which have almost as much weight that far forward on the blade.
I like to use my knives for chopping like any good knut, but as a rule, most knives will offer similarly poor chopping performance compared to a good axe.

AUS8A can be a perfectly good steel depending on heat treat; I've had some 8A blades that are just plain insufferable, but also a few that are not a great deal removed from higher end steels on terms of toughness and edge retention, and they sharpen great. Much of my experience with SOG's 8A has been quite positive, especially the cryo-quenched stuff; I'm impressed enough to buy from them again.

the whole handle looks just like the same one from the tech bowie, which I believe I paid around $120 for or something, looks like they just put a new blade shape in there. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it, if I were to buy it.

You're not alone!

The Creed? It's just "eh" to me. Nothing that grabs me.

@leftytwoguns
Been looking into buying a sog knife for a while what one would be your favourite in the picture above?

2 folders in arc lock & vg10 good knives. sog does offer lots of aus8 in cryo. would like to test one in aus8 & one in aus cryo.

Take note: Sog prices on their webpage are MRSP. Usually you´ll find a much lower price in retail stores...
