Hey bladeforums, I don't come here very often, but I'm looking for some offers on a Desert Dagger I've inherited from a friend. This knife wasn't in very good condition when I got it, but I've fixed it up really well, and buffed out all the major scratches I thought were detrimental to the appearance of the blade. The handle was wrapped in tape for it's entire lifespan, which coincidentally preserved the grip, haha. The pommel is gorgeous, and it's one of the things that impresses me most about it.
As I mentioned in the title, the tip is broken off, which is a fairly common problem with these blades, and the main reason SOG decided to stop selling them. I have no idea what can be done about this, besides sharpening the flat point (which the previous owner attempted). Speaking of sharpening, the blade is as dull as a butter knife. I made no attempt to sharpen it, as this isn't a blade I would use for tasks requiring an edge. I should have mentioned that I also don't have the sheath for the blade, which depreciates the value even more.
In summary, I have a nice looking SOG Desert Dagger that needs a good home and some tender to care to get it up to appearances. I'm enlisted, and I leave in December, so I'd like to be rid of it by then. I'd be comfortable trading it for something relatively cheap, as I can't expect too much for a broken knife, and I wouldn't want to haggle for something that I don't need. Ideally, I would like a Marine Corps OKC 3S Bayonet, but on the cheaper side, a Kabar Navy Mk 1 would be great, as would a Ontario Mk 3 Navy. I have a certain penchant for Military knives at the moment. Just shoot me an email, and I'm sure we can work out a trade.
I can post more pictures, which I'm sure will be necessary for such a 'rarity'.
Thanks for looking!
