I don't have good experience with stainless in high impact cutting tools like and axe so I'd stay away from it.

+1. Especially 420 stainless. there's no practical application for that steel outside of dive knives where the high corrosion resistance would come into play. I don't think it can even keep an edge well enough to merit a low usage pocket knife...
