I've edc'd a Twitch XL for a couple years now. I'm very surprised at how tough the thing has turned out to be. Looks wise, it seems more like a gentle slicer but it has proven to be much more capable. Also, the shape appears blocky and bulky and there's considerable heft when held in the hand. However, clip it in my pocket and I don't even feel it or know it's there until needed. And with the bayonet clip, it sinks outta sight. The lock back is SOLID and it has a safety also. Tip: don't oil the safety. After oiling mine, gravity or a light brush when extracting from the pocket would cause the safety to engage. Now, with the help from normal use and pocket dust, the lock again stays where I put it until I move it. I attended a gun and knife show this weekend and handled lots of knives. One Benchmade HK Auto, (Snody series) impressed me. Spyderco wise, only the JD Smith found favor with me. By the time I left I had 6 knives on my want list. SOG Flash 1, SOG TAC Auto, Lone Wolf T2 and Lone Wolf D2 Harsey's and the 2 previously mentioned. Oh, and the Kershaw Needs work, but I already had that on the list going in. As well as the Harsey's - Just can't wittle those two down.
Point being, SOG has farted around with their marketing, designs and production pieces. Hit and Miss would be my assesment. But, in the end I don't think they've ever made junk. I think they've taken a bad wrap to some degree from the self proclaimed elite customers of brand X or Brand Y but it all comes down to performance in hand. I think alot of people are starting to voice said results of that in hand experience. It's a good thing.
