SOG Knives

Not the most bang for the buck....in fact i find them a tad overpriced with the material they offer.
for example....
sog aegis - Aus 8 steel , zytal handle = $60-80
spyderco endura - vg10, zytal with steel liners = $60

sog is mostly for ppl who want cool looking gears (nothign wrong with that)...but if u want a high quality functional knife, go with spyderco and kershaw =)
 
Hey,

I see quite a few of these in my shop. Several of the law enforcement guys like their folders as an EDC on the job. They are tough, comfortable, and can be really good for cutting an accident victim out of a seat belt. I see them praised and flamed. I just see what I see.

I have the SOG Spec Elite 1 & 2, Pentagon Elite ! & 2, Visionary2, X-ray Vision and they are all great knives. They all have VG10 blades, Arc lock, and made in Seki City Japan. Their list prices are high but usually sell for a lot less, the most I paid for one was $85 After Spyderco they are my favorites.
 
I have a Flash II for a beater and it's held up real well. I didn't pay list for it, though.

You're interested in fixed blades: look at the Seal Pup Elite.
For crossover fixed/"folder" look at the Revolvers.
 
Out of curiosity, are the SOG fixed blades full tang? I've looked at a few of their products but none of them say.
 
I have a few SOGS I like. The tech bowie is nice. For folders the Trident isn't bad. I have a Flash one and it's a comptent design. Pentagon Elite 2 has a big blade, a good lock and a poor handle. The last one I bought was an Aegis tanto, I ended up returning it because of up/down blade play.

Depends on the knife: The Bowies have a tang through like the Ka-bar affixed with a bolt at the end. The Seal Team series are full tang but only exposed on the bottom. Forge and Vulcan have an all around exposed full tang.

I have never read about tang problems with SOG except for the crap Fusion ones that have a soldered tang.
