question. I am thinking about picking up the SOG Ltd. Edition Gunny Fixed Blade, dose anyone have any input about this particular knife. it look to have some solid components about it, and I can score one for $149 seem to be a no brainier. what saith you fellow blade heads. any comments.

You could get a better "working knife" for that money, but it wouldn't look as special - if the Gunny design calls to you then sure grab it!

Some folks are a somewhat gun shy about SOG because of the shift to outside US manufacturing, and i know it's a bit of a dead horse beating, so maybe I'll leave that can of worms alone. My only concerns about this blade is the stingray hide inlay? I know it a cool thing and all to use exotic materials to enhance the looks of a knife, but how durable really is stingray hide. any one know any about this aspect of the knife.

First of all, what shift to outside us manufacturing? All but the multitools were always made over seas. Early it was seki Japan. Now it is mostly Taiwan and some China.

That knife is made in seki so the quality should be high. I have lots of sogs. This one is not my style but if you like it and feel it is at a good price go ahead and get it!

Edit, I dont know about this knife in particular but sting ray is used a lot in knife handles. Honestly though, for a knife of this price to be used hard there are far more durable options.
