SOG NW Ranger 2.0 vs. Cold Steel Recon Scout San Mai III

Where'd you find the NW Ranger for $50?

Another blade to consider would be the SOG Creed Bowie. I think it's over-priced for AUS8A steel, but it gets good reviews. Our very own Mistwalker did a review on it and liked it. It's about the same size as the Recon Scout, but I like the design a lot better. Very good looking knife.

Can't say here. Rules and such.

The 5/16" thickness and wide edge geometry has always put me off the Recon. Rather have my BK-9 for a big knife. I waited many years to get a Northwest Ranger ( always liked the look of it) and when SOG came out with the non-serrated in Aus8 instead of Aus6 I jumped all over it. Very good as a general use bush blade just that it needs the sheath modded or better yet ,replaced.

My first SOG was the partially serrated NW Ranger. It is the knife that taught me that I do not like partially serrated blades. I don't think you can go wrong for the price with the SOG NW Ranger 2.0 although it needs a better sheath (if you like SOGs). SOG has been very successful with their AUS-8 blades.
