Sog - se37 – seal team elite

I have one of the seki city seal pups with the full flap nylon sheath. The blade is stabby, the handle is grippy, and the sheath is secure. Blade length is OK. In those regards it's a good soldier knife.

Kinda fails on utility though. The large finger choil + the serrated edge combo makes push cutting with any force difficult. A straight spine on the blade would also be more useful IMHO.

Anyways. Enjoy your new knife OP. May it serve you well for many years to come.

Lots of me saying "I agree!" What the heck. I've had the same Seki Seal pup with the same sheath. The massive "choil" thing is just strange IMO. Why is it so big? The serrations don't please me either. I'm not a flappy sheath kind of guy. I have a Taiwanese Pup with serrations and the Newer nylon sheath. It is better than the SEKI IMO. The one I actually carry and use frequently is the PE Elite in a modded kydex sheath (pictured above). That thing is almost perfect to me.

My Government came with this sheath. Looking at different images of this model it looks like they changed it a couple times for whatever reason.

Yeah the plain edge versions and the shorter choil of the elite versions make more sense to me as well...

but I didn't know any better back when I bought it. So the SE Seal pup is what I got. :D

What I find interesting here is that all of DanielRobs photos and text are lifted directly from a knife retailer website listed in his profile, and that the text is not the text used by the manufacturers of the knives that are the subjects of his threads.

And that some of the subjects of his threads are listed as "best sellers" on that website.

I don't know what that implies...let the suits up in BF Corporate figure that one out.

It does give one pause.

SOG is notorious for changing sheaths around without any explanation. Nice Government.

KenHash, the most interesting thing about the photo you posted is that the Sergeant Major has a CIB Third award, very, very few of those ever awarded. John

What an eye you have. Hmm..yes. WWII, Korea and Vietnam?

My SEAL 2000 also has a kydex sheath. And so does my KA-BAR tanto.

It seems not so long ago (some years of maybe a decade) the regular sheath was kydex, now they all use crappy plastic or kydex imitations.

It's a nice knife. Nice sheath. I've had the op's knife and the Seal Pup. I really like the Seal Pup's size better. Sold them both though. In retrospect, I wish I had kept the Seal Pup.

KenHash, Yes WWII, Korea and Vietnam, I had seen that photo before, and noticed the SOG knife, as I have been a friend of Conrad "Ben" Baker the man who got it started since 1986. Reference the SOG Seal knife, saying nothing about the quality of the knife itself, but one of the stories that was told about its selection concerned a Navy Admiral. According to the story he was tired of hearing about all the different knives, asked to see all the candidates, picked up the SOG knife, said "I like this one" and that was how SOG got the contract.
