Sog seal pup or fallkniven F1?

Bark river gets my vote.
Seal pup elite is also fine. It's shaving sharp out of box and has AUS8 steel and a spine rasp.

I'll probably go the fallkniven and try the leather sheath as it's the cheapest... if I don't like it I'll get a better kydex sheath done up. Are there any other similar survival knives in price and style?

It's hard to beat the Fallkniven for price/performance. Laminated VG10 convex ground blade will stand up to just about anything you can throw at it, and it's easy to sharpen. It's interesting to note that Fallkniven does not consider batoning to be an abusive use for their knives.

The drop point blade shape is pretty versatile and the blade itself is long enough for most things.

The Thermorun-handled F1s are nice, but if you want a really sweet F1, go for the micarta handled version. Longer half-guard, polished blade, and the micarta handle really seems to fit my hand well.

I have three F1s at this point, two with thermorun handles and one with the Micarta handle. I greatly prefer the micarta. One of the thermoruns is now a trunk kit knife and the other lives in a BOB.
