Sog seal strike

Say mani, if i understand you correctly is that you like the extended pommel on the strike.
And detest the metal handle;
But don't mind the seal pup as a whole?
Given the lesser of two evils.
Obviously i would say go for the seal pup.
But you know there are numerous knife stylings and brands
To fit one's budget.
Nothing wrong with lesser brands if you are brand concious
And tight on a budget.
But plenty wrong if you buy for all the wrong reasons.
Try working out your purpose
Other than styling if your intend is for a using.
You would be hard pressed to find a reputable brand
With fine stainless steel with a limited budget.
As most cutlery firms have been busy doing carbon steels.

Great choice!
A solid performer despite its size.
There would be will be times however
When you would wish that it were a little longer.
But for the most part
It is adequate for everything but felling a tree.
One naturally wouldn't expect the world of it
At first glance
Due to its small size but very often
New owners of this gem of a design
Would soon enough get very attached
To its charms and
Would fondly come to think a world of it.
Mani, don't take my word for it,
Just use it the minute you own one.
And i m sure you will be in for a treat.

since im going with pup is there any chance of modifying the pup to have extended tang or to add metal cap at the end ? to all the sog seal pup fans what will you do if u have to break things with pommel of your knife??

I've owned the Seal pup elite for several years now. Got a SOG OPS when it first came out. Both knives are really only different in their blade pattern. After using both, I happen to prefer the OPS now, but that's always a personal thing. Since I live only about three miles from the SOG factory I took a drive over there to take a first hand look at the Seal Strike. IMHO, the Seal Strike, OPS, and Seal PUP Elite are very similar knives in general. The quality of construction and material are virtually the same as I see it.
The jimping on the Seal Strike is more pronounced than on the Seal Pup, but less so than the OPS. I've never had a problem with it using the OPS, But maybe that means I need to moisturize:D. After handling the Seal Strike I have to say that I personally prefer the handle on it a little more than the Seal Pup or OPS which are pretty much identical. This maybe just that it fills my hand a little better, and certainly different people different opinions again. With the three knives side by side, I doubt that there's any task you can do with one that can't be accomplished with the others. The Seal Pup design has the longest track record and a very loyal following, that's worth considering. In my case after using the two knives I happen to like the OPS more, but I wouldn't feel at a disadvantage with either. I tend to think the Seal Strike would fall in the same category. If the pommel question is that important to you, you maybe answering your own question. Like some others here I haven't found the lack of an exposed tang pommel a real disadvantage. If a real useable pommel was important to me I'd end up using an old Cattaraugus Model 225Q knife, but that's a whole different story.

Oooh, mani. Break things with a pommel?
Pound at maybe.
I see that you're still pretty keen with such usage.
Guess i m guilty of having battered away my cs gi tanto...
But you know what, maybe you might want to search
For a knife with such a feature in mind.

But i understand that it could be way off the budget
So...

that was helpful girlyman. cstanto is good i have seen the destruction video too. the reason for me to choose a knife is so hard is that nowadays knife makers are making knives look less aggressive for non knife ppl (kind of toyish) if you look at old knives you can make war with it. one knife for many uses.
thakyou for your time with me. im eyeing for seal team elite or tech bowie lets hope i buy good one

It was time well spent mani.
And my pleasure was to have been of some help in your search.
It leaves no doubt in my mind that
What ever choice you make will be adequate for today
But who knows what tomorrow brings
Perhaps even more mind boggling times in search for that
yet to be made singularly perfect knife in the near future.

Strange that you should mention old knives you can make war with
One knife with many uses.
Times haven't really changed the purpose of a having a knife in times of war.
But technical advances in materials and styling has tried to make
Knives more fashionable and more in tune with the times.
However, for a knife to reach cult status
it would have to take more than mere design and technology
But the hard and bitter sweet experience of a couple of seasoned warriors
To create a legendary battle proven knife.
I am sure your NSG could trade some colorful and lively stories about what they carry...

I would be going out on a limb here,
But it can be assumed that where ever Glock pistols are issued to a special unit
The Glock field knife would some how make its way into the tendered package...
Some other knives find their way into service
Through personal means, either by private purchase, gifted or trade between exchange programme participants.
It should be noted that fox knives have been marketing one of their daggers as nsg material.
But who knows how far it has made progress, if any as staple issue.
Victorinox though may have made some progress with its pliers.
There will always be firms peddling their wares
And through the periodic release of press photographs
One can sometimes spot the goodies...

girlyman in the above picture the fist NSG is having glock what about the other NSGs what knife is that?

What knife is tbat?
You say???!
Wby Mani, that was a rather shockingly unexpected surprising question coming from you indeed.
I was so entirely dead certain that the other nsg operative in the photograph
Could have somehow been your alter ego in uniform
Having so smartly strapped on a sog tech bowie...
Mani, much can be achieved, when faced with even the most impossible of odds
if we but bravely put our sharp minds to it.
Well, That and with the magical help of a great looking knife.
In which we have so completely place our lives if not complete trust in.
Just Promise me that after getting your dream knife,
That you would
Live to cut, and thrust with sog!

The two guys to the left are indeed carrying SOGs but the one sheath I can see clearly does not look like the Tech Bowie sheath. I believe it is a Desert Daggert 2 or something in that line of SOGs. You can tell by the ridges in the sheath.

Indeed, craytab, a dagger would play out well for the requirement.
Perhaps even the very make and model standard to nsg.
Well mani, you now have another option to decide if you rather go towards general fieldcraft or secretly prefer the specialized silent sentry removal tool.
