I love my SOG Seal Team. It is my go to downstairs knife. I use it for just about everything from opening boxes to chipping ice when the ice maker gets clogged to prying open the lawn mower shed to heavy yard work use.

Now, almost everything is great about this knife. I replaced the velcro closure on the sheath with a snap. Other than that I actually like the quality on the sheath. Much better than say a BKT nylon sheath.

Now the Edge. When I first used the knife to take down a couple small saplings it chipped out. No problem, many factory edges need to be sharpened a couple times. After a good sharpening no more chipping. The thing was, the factory grind was very obtuse. It couldn't cut very well even when it was sharp as heck. I put up with this for years. But no more!

I re-profiled it by hand on a course then fine stone. Finished it up on my trusty $12 ceramic rod that I use for touching up all my knives. The results are a screaming sharp much more acute edge that slices and dices!

After marginally disparaging remarks in another thread regarding the Flash II, I feel semi obligated to make clear that, tho' my opinion of SOG folders is likely not one they will want to use in their ad copy, my opinion of their fixed blades is quite a different matter. I have SOG Seal Team Elite, 3 Seal Pups, including one Elite. A current production black tini Tech Bowie, which I like a great deal, and two older Tech I&2 bowies, which, aesthetically, are likely my favorite knives of all my collection. I would not hesitate to risk life and limb depending on any these blades.

Good job on the Seal Team cray. I've done similar on my Pup Elite. I find the Aus8A blades on the Taiwan models
easy to work with and lend themselves to such improvement.

Good job, now if they'd make one without the partial serrations I'd buy one!

Completely agree! Wish it weren't serrated. If I used it for a woods knife this would be a major problem. It is a utility blade though and because of its size there is plenty of PE.

The SOG force is basically the same knife (exact same handle) but with a more bushcrafty blade shape. Great stainless option for med-large woods blade.

I know you have an impressive collection, I have seen pics (you posted) of what looked like a Tigershark. I know those were made without serrations, but I swear they also offered the Seal Team without serrations but I can't find any. Am I off base on that? They produced so many similar looking bowies over the years.

The original SEAL team knife for the SEAL knife trials was a copy of a design already manufactured by SOG. It had a Kraton grip, brass guard and either carbon or stainless blade. SOG made a few changes including adding serrations and the SOG SEAL 2000 was born.

Yup, I don't think they ever sold the Seal 2000 without serrations. They do however still sell the Seal Pup Elite without serrations. SOG has made and still does make lots of big knives without serrations as well. More SOG porn:
