Im looking to buy a Tech Bowie, but I havent even handled a sog fixed blade. From what Ive seen they very attractive knives, but id like to know how the AUS8 blades hold up when used. Id like just about anything you can tell me about this knife, and appreciate any input from owners. I must say I have a trident folder and I love the thing. :D

I just picked a tech bowie up last month and took it camping. Awesome looking knife, and I love the bowie style. Did some light/moderate chopping, and food prep with it. Nothing to strenuous, but the edge held up like a charm. The kraton handle is comfortable and provides a good no slip grip. I got the TiAN coated one. I kinda wish I had gotten the satin finish now, but the black coating has held up remarkably well - no markings at all.

On a side note, don't let your friends try to stab a beetle at night with your new bowie. My bonehead friend hit a small rock and chipped the tip. :( I'm gonna have to sharpen it out.

I've handled the new Tech Bowie, and it is a fine knife. However I passed on the purchase (even though the wifey said I could get it  ), because lately I find I prefer a higher, flatter grind. SOG does make some mighty fine looking tools, though. And yes, they do work well for stuff. I have an older SEAL 2000, and for a while after I got it, it was used all the time. But you know how things go, new knives come out, tastes change, yada, yada, yada...

I have had an A.G. Russell combat bowie with a blade of AUS-8 for over ten years. It has been my most frequently used field knife. The blade has held up well. I have other knives with more high end steels and I am very satisfied with the performance of the AUS-8 blade.
