SOG Tomcat 3.0 Opening Action Question

New to SOG knives. Just purchased a Tomcat 3.0. Not a knife expert so seeking some guidance from you experts.

My questions are around the opening mechanism and function of the Tomcat. I have a few Kershaw's and when I push out on the blade it snaps open. When I push out on the Tomcat, I have to push it all the way until it locks. There is appears to be no force propelling the blade. It does open very smoothly however. Is this the standard for the Tomcat? Is the Tomcat considered a Spring Assisted or Manual opening mechanism.

Just trying to determine if there is an issue with it. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Great knife. It's a manual action. As it breaks in it will get even smoother. If you adjust your grip and experiment you'll soon find the most effective position for deployment.
